Which oil is king?

Re: Which oil is king? -ALL BRAND NAMES!

Richard:

We use Suiox brand feeders. I really don't know if they have a website. I buy from the local distributor. They are indestriuctible. Even the Percherons can't destroy them. The Souix feeders are Cattle feeders, we just turn them up side down. All our friend and us have used them for years.

I have to very strongly disagree with you on your point about leaving the net wrap or twine on a bale and then letting the animals eat it down. A horse will choke on the poly twine and the net wrap can become an accident waiting to happen. We always remove all twine or net and then let them eat.

As far as leaving a bale in a feeder, we let them eat free will and our 3 light horses will consume a 4 square in about a week. The Percherons go through about 4-4 square bales in a week. Considering the price of a round over kickers, a little wasteage is readily absorbed by the price difference. A 4 square round at about 700 pounds goes for around $20.00 here. 700 pounds of kickers at $3.50 per bale @ 50 lbs each would be $49.00. That's a $29.00 difference between the round and the Kicker. A little scrap is incinsequential. That's figuring at $3.50 per bale. 1st cut TA is going at $4.00 here and 2nd TA is at $4.50. I know, that's what I am selling it at and I need more We put up 2400 2'nd TA kickers last week and they are all spoken for. I don't think I'll round any 3rd. I suspect that 3rd. will be at close to $5.00 each!!

Have you ever had this happen 5030? We've done it as long as I can remember and never had a problem with a cow or a horse. We don't leave it on till there's nothing left, just about 1/2 way down. The animals are pretty smart. They don't even touch the wrap or the twine. I feed 200 plus cattle a day and up to 60 horses a day and never had an issue. Not saying it couldn't happen but it sure saves alot of hay and keeps the hay fresher longer.

I sincerely apologize. Richard and I always seem to get off track. I guess it just that we both have farms and we get on that "farm" stuff.

I guess I'm in John Millers' boat too. My oil is black and dirty and I too want to know what the "King of Oil" is??

"I thought this was about oil, not bales. Posted in the wrong place??????? "

Here is what is going on Pruntyc, the hay baling and etc is an attempt to end gracefully by distraction a thread to which there is no answer that everyone can agree to. People by their nature seek to find concensus and whn they cannot they tend to get aggravated. The distractive posts had not failed to gain my attention. I wonder why it bothers some folks so much sometimes, I think if it is going to be such an anger causing issue then why have an Oil Forum in the first place? To me, if it causes somone to get upset, just don't read those posts or get involved in a particular thread. Why get mad?
I will answer the question, in my opinion, sufficient studies and evidence exists to state that synthetic oils are better and do make a difference and the one synthetic that is reaonably priced, widely available and always does well in unbiased studies (those not performed by a manufacturer themselves) is Mobil 1----King Of Oil. The truth is out there for those who seek it.
Oil threads are like opening some bizzare Pandorahs Box, no one can agree. I think we need a thread like--Will Cheap Oil Ruin my Tractor? or maybe instead of King Of Oil, Skidrow Bum of Oil /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif My vote for Skidrow Bum of Oil is Quaker State and Pennzoil /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif .
