Who actually makes the tractor and whose engine and transmission does it carry?

Well, lets look at the basics at least. Who makes the engines, anyone got a list..
What is the sense of even putting this list together? Is it going to tell us what engines are best? Probably not. Is it going to change as times go by? Probably. Is it going to help you find parts you probably wont need? Maybe, but probably not. Is it going to be accurate by getting information from some people are mostly guessing? Probably not. Is it going to help you choose a superior tractor? Only if you convince yourself it will. Sorry, I miss the point.

IDK about LS tractors, but my experience with a front loader LG washing machine was horrible. The computer fried and none of the local appliance repair shops could get the parts for weeks. Then I was quoted almost the price of a new machine to repair it. I told the repair shop to junk it and bought a genuine US made speed queen washer. Completely made in Wisconsin.
The tractor I spoke of in Post#8 I purchased in 2006 and was made for Farmtrac by LS and it's never been back to the shop, so at least one has given good service and appliances and tractors are apples and oranges IMO.

My neighbor has a 15 year old Montana tractor. These were made by LS. It has also given him good service. And yes tractors and washing machines are different things. I posted my experience to emphasize the issue with getting repair parts from LG (parent company of LS tractors). The tractors seem to be well made; but how available are parts?

The few parts that I have ever needed I have been able to buy on-line , but in today's world I realize that could change , the one thing I liked about it having the Mitsubishi motor is that many parts are available at NAPA.

LG is not the parent of LS any longer. It was completely spun off. They don't share anything other than majority owners. That would be like expecting bad service from GEICO because you got the wrong order at Dairy Queen (both owned by Buffett).

Thanks for the info on Montana. I knew TYM made them. I didn't know LS made even more of them. I prefer the Montana color scheme.

As far as Kubota, I spoke to their marketing director at a trade show. Kubota only engineers and builds the side by side utility vehicles in the USA. All other Kubota products are shipped to the USA in kit form. This helps with import duties. John Deere did the same thing years ago when they imported tractors from Yanmar. The tractors were almost complete when they arrived in Georgia bolted to a pallet. The John Deere factory only bolted the wheels on it and drove it out. Again, it was playing with tax laws since it partially assembled in the USA.

I could be wrong, but my neighbor who owns the Montana told me that parts were available through LS.

What you posted seems to be different than what the Kubota USA website says. I know that my loader was made in Georgia (the tag says so), and based on this website, maybe the engine. Take a look.

I have no idea what the relationship is these days, but at one time, yanmar built tractors for JD.
I owned a 3110 yanmar and it was the same as the JD 950 yanmar 3810 was the same tractor as JD 1050, there were also other yanmars that had a JD twin

This is the same for the JD 790 and 990 and the 3005 and 4005 which were almost the same tractors 790/3005 and 990/4005. Apart from changes between the models in fuel pumps, Alternator output, and even engine displacement etc, they were all Yanmar through and through. I own a 990 late model so it has some of the parts that the 4005 has and everything is Yanmar made. The things that are not Yanmar made are the FEL and the BH and of course the canopy is JD made. I don't know if Yanmar mad the ROPS for these units, they are fixed and not fold-able. (when I purchased mine the previous owner had cut the ROPS in order for it to fit in his garage. I bought a new ROPS and mounted it.) The 990 used both a JD 430 and a JD 300CX with the later models. The 300CX is made in China. The 430 has about 150# more lifting power so I wish I had that extra lift. The 4005 only had the 300CX. I don't know where the 430 was made but my guess is that it was NA. The 8A and 8B BH are made by a company in NA, Ameriquip Corp, which I beleive makes all of the JD CUT BH's and others like Mahindra's BH as well. https://www.amerequip.com/index.html

When I owned my 3110, I would go to the local JD dealer and buy parts for for a JD 950, or 1050 which is the same engine as the 3110 and 950, except the 1050 like the 3810 is turbo charged
