... $60,000 earning 7% compounded annually for 30 years will give you a tad over $450,000 at retirement age. ...
Yeah, but in 30 years a new truck will be $500,000. Good thing you saved up for it!

'course by then we'll be driving Buicks to the moon...

Back on topic... I could use a work truck but there ain't no way I'm buying a new one at these prices. So this is what I'm looking at, should be strong enough to pull my Kioti.

Opinions on this choice welcome ... wiser than buying new or a maintenance headache?

I don't really know about parts availability, if needed, but in my opinion, you couldn't go wrong with that one.

I'd take a peek at it as it looks good in the add. Mileage is very low for a 1990. Make sure you check the transmission oil for color and smell.

These days people no longer buy, they lease and because of this prices have skyrocketed

Here's what a new truck costs: Stickered for $62K Bought it for $55K. Brand new 2015 F150 Platinum. <img src="http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/files/related-topics/426995-who-can-afford-new-truck-img_1843-jpg"/>

Very nice! I wished our local dealerships would come down off sticker that much. They act like your trying to steal one of their kids when you offer them less.

I remember years ago, a car salesman was being particularly difficult. He went through his practiced speech about what a great deal he was offering. I looked at him and said .... I enjoy *** as much as anyone. I just wasn't prepared to have it here at the car lot today.

Wow. I bought 40 acres of land here for 40,000. Let me see a half ton pickup or 40 acres. That was an easy one for me. I built a house on the 40 acres also.

But ... You could have bought the truck and put on a camper shell :)

Yeah, back in the 1980's it was $1500/acre around here for vacant farmland. Now its closer to $8000/acre and most everything that goes up for sale is now at auction with reserve price, so you can forget about it as corporation are bidding it up. Very, very hard for individuals to get large acreage around here anymore. Farmers are selling out, then hiring back out to the corporation that buys their land. It big business now.

I use buy a new diesel pickup every three years or so, not anymore, the prices are insane, now I buy a new leftover AWD car in the 30K range every five years and keep a pickup for as long as it will last and then buy another used one when it's no longer worth fixing..
