I started working on a farm when I was 18 and my boss always wore a pair of pliers in a holder. After a while I realized how handy they were because I was always asking to use his. He bought me a holder and a pair of pliers and every since I always "wear my pliers" if I'm working outside.

Anyone else wear pliers? If you don't I highly suggest giving it a try! They work as, well, pliers, hammer, wire cutter, pry bar, device to jump across starter solenoid , digger, shim, etc. etc.

I feel "naked" if I ever find myself without them when working outside. I used to haul hay and always wore them in my holder and never lost a pair. I've spent countless hours in/on tractors, combines, sprayers, trucks, etc; and have never had them fall out. I've had the same pair of pliers for nearly 10 years now!

I have several important tools in my tractor's toolbox. I only carry a pocket knife on my person.

I made a two inch wide nylon web belt holster for my 24" pipe wrench that I carry everywhere . . .

Oh, okay, it's just a Leatherman "Charge" and the holster has a loop for my Fenix L001 LED flashlight (which does go with me everywhere!).

Always have my Sog multi tool with me. It has gotten me out of a bind many times

Pliers are always in reach, as is a firearm, but I can't be without a pocket knife. I used to borrow my dad's ALL the time, and when he passed away, I began carrying mine without fail.

I have one, but its currently broken (gears for the pliers are stripped, tip of the plier jaw broke off, saw snapped off ). I need to get around to sending it back so I can get it fixed, then sell it. I am back to my super reliable US made Schrade Tough Tool (from before they outsourced production to China), its twice the tool that the SOG is for working on rough stuff.

I don't carry anything - suspenders have enough of a problem just holdin up my pants. All my tools are in either a tool box or pouch on my vehicles.

I always carry a 'Gerber' multi-tool... and the knife is always sharp.

Actually, all of my knives are regularly sharpenned. Where's the logic in carrying a dull knife?

Could put that on a strap around your leg. I'd have to, as I normally don't wear clothes.

Same with me re: pocket knife.

I used to carry a Leatherman all the time.
SWMBO bought me a Swiss Army knife w/ pliers, pen, scissors, etc. It also has the screwdriver with interchangeable bits. It more than replaced my Leatherman. Most of my work dealt with computers and the Leatherman was overkill.

Interesting aside - SWMBO's cousin's son (about 40 yrs old) and I were working on a tractor. He's a very successful business executive that travels world wide etc. and had just been bragging about his new Iphone to his dad and I. He had to cut a wire and looked over to me with a sense of loss. Then he said - "Could I borrow your knife? And don't tell my Dad, he'd kill me for not having a pocket knife". Apparently his Iphone couldn't cut it.

I carry a two inch pocket knife in my watch pocket, I also carry a pair of four inch vise-grips and a four inch crescent wrench in my other pocket. I never leave the house without them. I use these tools more than any other ones I own and they have "saved the day" hundreds of times.

Hey, me too! Have the handy body piercing tool loops for the "love handles" to hang stuff.
