Who has Snow?

We have about 8" on the ground and another 3-5" forecast with rain later this evening. Sure hope we don't get that rain.

Good grief - - rain could turn cold and lock you up like a Carmel dipped apple that was put in the freezer.

We had first flakes yesterday. May get 3-5 inches later this week, or it could be rain. We are 14" over normal rainfall this year.

Woke up yesterday AM to 12 inches of the white stuff. (aka s--t)
Problem is that it is perfect snowball density and that means the blower clogs up all too often, making matters worst is the ground is not frozen.
The blower did not let me down but there is a whole lot of black/grey snow everywhere now.
Man that wet stuff is heavy!

Fortunately my plow and blower were already installed as well as the chains, also fully fuelled.
It compacted at the simple pass of the tractor making any track a hump and adding to the rough ride and uneven plowing and blowing.
That is one downside of a CUT, just not enough weight to keep the wheels in contact to the road surface, at least in dense wet snow conditions.

One positive side is that it was only 32 deg, so not cold.

That much heavy wet snow is royal pain in the butt. And it doesn't matter what equipment you have.

I always try to pack down the first 2-3 inches of snow to try to not plow or blow all my gravel away. Some people just pack it down all winter and have one heck of a mess come Spring.

I have the most fun on the old Troy Bilt Rider with the 36" Blower. Quicker and cheaper than firing up the diesel plow truck.

Had just a light dusting Friday, then it turned to rain. Chance of snow this upcoming week.

I lit my wood stove this morning, first time this year :D

Keep the pics coming.

The lake Superior basin has been wet all this summer and fall. Mixed in with some extra rain, followed by more of the same. Wish we could send some out to the left coast.

We had first flakes yesterday. May get 3-5 inches later this week, or it could be rain. We are 14" over normal rainfall this year.

Today I put the box blade and landscape rack out back and got the plow mounted in the bucket. Hopefully that will hold off the 3-5".

For once the weather guessers were right! They said snow by this evening, started at about 5pm. Have about 2" now at 7:30. Predicted 4-6", I think we're going to get more than that.

We got about half an inch on Friday. It turned cold so we still have that crunchy half inch. Anybody else?

Oosik, Sure glad you have it over there. People go ape around here with an inch of the fluffy stuff. Just last week the temp started to drop into the mid 30s at night and low 50s days. If you had the moisture we have had as rain you would have had the snow plow out a lot. The El-Nino prediction is warmer and wetter for this side. Until last week worked outside in my shirt sleeves. I may be in winter mode by Friday. Dragoneggs lives over West on Hood Canal and he will have a different story.

We've had some up at the cabin since early October. We've had about 8 inches so far in town. The last two years we only got about 6 feet at the cabin, which is pretty bad. Some years we get up to 20 feet. Hopefully we get 12+ feet this year, our forrest need the moisture.

We are supposed to get some here in a few minutes. It is sure cold, windy and gray.

We got 2" on Friday and most of it is still on the ground. The temps here have stayed in the 30's with fog and clouds so no sun to melt it, hoping for sun and 40's this week.

Well it finally froze , -8 deg (C) and our lake iced over during the night.
Being totally calm it was cool to actually see the ice forming like an advancing army on the march.
The iced over areas were changing by the minute.

I went out to clean the remaining mess from that 12 inches of wet snow and it sure is easier with frozen, well lightly, ground.
Unfortunately a bunch of 4-5 inch stones popped up and hopefully I found them all as the blower really does not like those.
Now if it stays cold I have my base for the season.

Dry as a bone in Northern California. No rain yet this season-- none in the forecast-- we could really use that to counteract the terrible fires and persistent fire danger. 70F yesterday, about 50F overnight. Very dry conditions.
We've got plenty of rain and more than enough mud. I wish we could send you some.

Well, crapola! We got 4" of snow, power went out at midnight and didn't come back on until 7am. Temperature popped up to 40F from 15. Raining around us too. Joy!
