I had my shades on so the wife can't tell it's me...
I bought more tractor than I probably needed for the long term.
I have one acre is all, and I was looking at Garden Tractors to do my mowing, lawn care, light plowing, and a small disc, and probably getting a Johnny bucket jr.
I was then going to rent a Skid steer to to the finish grading, dirt work, add a culvert for a second driveway, and put in fencing around the whole place. Also probably sink the poles for a pole barn, and covered areas for our goats.
I was watching the local classifieds for garden tractors, and talked to my dad one night, and he asked about just spending a little more on a tractor, using it for a year or two and then being able to sell it when done. I asked the wife, and she surprisingly gave me a green light!
About 2 weeks later I ran across a Kubota
B7300 with a FEL and a rear blade. It has low hours and seemed to be pretty clean. Within a couple of hours it was mine, and now I am looking for a PHD and Disc for it.
I've already built the culvert, plowed our garden for this year with a middlebuster, and I'll be using a subsoiler through the whole place to help water absorb faster.
The wife STILL hasn't asked how I'm going to mow once we put in grass... and I'll deal with that question eventually.
I know I could have been happy with a garden tractor, but this is more fun and more versatile.
