Who here has bought "too much tractor"?

Guess it all depends on your needs. My problem is wants. I wants things I know I don't need. 3/4 Ton Chevrolet truck. Could get by with a Colorado, but it would not be the same. When I snap something like an over loaded 12' dump trailer on the back I like the security. 4x4 Garden tractor. Got by with a two wheel drive for twelve years..... Just like the front axle to pull if I need it ( and i have ). TC55DA..... Had a TC45, just a bit to small to handle the back hoe. Love the turbo and extra weight. Corvettes..... have a nice small block older convertible with air. The one I like best..... 427 / 425 hp coupe, no options, all glory. Do I need to shred tires ? well maybe but I can if I want. Which brings me back to the wants.

Hard to have 'too big' of a tractor, you must have heard your wife say size does not matter too many times ..... :)

LOL.

Hmm, I can say my Deere 317 (61 hp Turbo Diesel) is a little over powered for the 4 acres it works on but I got it because it was what I wanted and it fit the bill for the list of jobs we needed to do. I could have gotten away with a 30 hp tractor but it is nice to have the extra HP when you need it. Besides, I am only 16, some day I will have my own place and thank myself for buying a skid steer.:D:cool:

Jake,

You are one heck of a 16 year old.

I bet your parents are proud of you. I know I would be.

I suspect you will thank yourself someday...

Keep up the good work,
Be well,
David

Spent last week helping my wife's brother. He has a ratty beat up Kubota, not sure of the model because all identifying panels have been knocked off or bent up working in the woods but I think it is a L3000 if that sounds like something built around 2003. He also has a Grand L4330 that looks like new- he inherited it when his father-in-law had a stroke. He almost always uses the small tractor. More maneuverable and he can hardly smash it worse. His dad, my father-in-law, liked to drive it but since it is a manual tranny and my F-I-L has bad legs and can't depress the clutch very well he knocked out several gears but darned if my B-I-L will fix it until it shuts down completely. I am way to spoiled to put up with that especially since it is his living. He is a truck gardener and vegetables don't sit around and wait while a tractor breakdown is repaired, but of course there is the L4330 sitting there in case of emergency, plus a couple John Deeres that hardly ever get used.
