With the new paint pigments used now the dark colors reflect almost as much heat as the light colors. The reflectivity index difference is so small that unless you are roofing a stadium or using a computer to compute your energy savings to the 16th decimal you won't see any appreciable difference.

I vote for the dark green. It is very traditional and makes a good contrast to brick red.

MX842, I am having my personal barber fly out this weekend and she has impecable taste (except in her choice of husband) and sense of color and style. If you include a better pic of your house in this thread I am sure she will know the perfect color to compliment your brick and your woods!

We got a break from the rain so here goes.

When I built the house I didn't want gutters but now I'm thinking I'm going to get all the wood around the house covered in medal and a good gutter system installed while they are here doing the roof. That is something else I need to think about as far as colors go too.

Nice setting. After seeing the house, I would strongly consider dark green roof with matching shutters on the house. I think it would look very upscale for a limited investment.

I would go with the dark green. It adds contrast to the red - opposite on the spectrum. It gives a hint/visual reference of verdigris, blends with the background and forces the brick work to come forward - visually supports the brick facade.

I would repaint the trim - windows, eves, door frame a darker grey/green almost the same colour as the roof - 80-90% - the same. If it is too dark it will create "holes". I actually think the colour it is now works - it makes a transition from the over all brick to the dark green roof.

The attached photo is quick and dirty but will give you a sense of direction.

I was thinking about that and a friend said I might try the copper metallic but when I see it on some pics of houses it looks too light but maybe it was just the pics. I want a change and didn't want to go with the charcoal grey but may end up there before it's over.

Copper starts out bright but will turn a relatively dark gray green in time.
