While I realize the inflamatory nature of that statment, think back to 1992-3ish.. Dodge was releasing the "bold styling" of the 1st. generation Ram trucks.... Shortly after the release, they ended up in litigation with Ford due to Ford attempting to copy the front end of the new Dodge.. Dodge won, Ford built an ugly front end for a couple years..
If an individual uses orange paint on a John Deere, thats ok.
But what if Branson renamed their tractors "James Dean" and painted them J.D. Green with Yellow wheels??? Think John Deere wouldn't snatch their heads around in court quicker than the paint could dry???.
Comparing the auto industry is sketchy at best... really, how many entry level GM products are REALLY GM products?? Can we all say DAEWOO?? Same with Ford... they are married up with Mazda and Chrysler has been married and divorced so many times, they don't even put the wedding dress away.. (Mitsu, Fiat, Mercedes, etc..)
Really, with ALL the available colors that aren't being used, WHY did they name their tractors Kioti and paint them the same shade of Orange????
If the tractor is THAT good, and the manufacturer is THAT solvent of a company, they would NOT want to be confused for being ANYTHING other than a Kioti....
Oh, and IF my Kubota ever breaks, there is a well established dealership infrastructure and my closest one is less than 15 minutes away...
And my neighbor has 2 John Deeres' and 2 Kubotas.. I saw a Kioti once, seemed like a decent tractor, and to be honest, I thought it was a new Kubota at first. (due to the color) We HAD a dealer about 45 minutes away for awhile, they quit and started selling Bobcat, (which I heard was a Kioti, but they can't do Kioti warranty work!!) BUT, NOW that dealer has quit carrying the Bobcat Utility tractors and only sells Bobcat equipment now!!..
