Who makes engine and trans for Kioti?

While I realize the inflamatory nature of that statment, think back to 1992-3ish.. Dodge was releasing the "bold styling" of the 1st. generation Ram trucks.... Shortly after the release, they ended up in litigation with Ford due to Ford attempting to copy the front end of the new Dodge.. Dodge won, Ford built an ugly front end for a couple years..
If an individual uses orange paint on a John Deere, thats ok.
But what if Branson renamed their tractors "James Dean" and painted them J.D. Green with Yellow wheels??? Think John Deere wouldn't snatch their heads around in court quicker than the paint could dry???.
Comparing the auto industry is sketchy at best... really, how many entry level GM products are REALLY GM products?? Can we all say DAEWOO?? Same with Ford... they are married up with Mazda and Chrysler has been married and divorced so many times, they don't even put the wedding dress away.. (Mitsu, Fiat, Mercedes, etc..)
Really, with ALL the available colors that aren't being used, WHY did they name their tractors Kioti and paint them the same shade of Orange????
If the tractor is THAT good, and the manufacturer is THAT solvent of a company, they would NOT want to be confused for being ANYTHING other than a Kioti....
Oh, and IF my Kubota ever breaks, there is a well established dealership infrastructure and my closest one is less than 15 minutes away...
And my neighbor has 2 John Deeres' and 2 Kubotas.. I saw a Kioti once, seemed like a decent tractor, and to be honest, I thought it was a new Kubota at first. (due to the color) We HAD a dealer about 45 minutes away for awhile, they quit and started selling Bobcat, (which I heard was a Kioti, but they can't do Kioti warranty work!!) BUT, NOW that dealer has quit carrying the Bobcat Utility tractors and only sells Bobcat equipment now!!..
If someone chooses to base all of their knowledge about a particular brand of anything solely from the color of that product, it is a character flaw of the perceiver, not the product or manufacturer, and does not automatically imply deception upon the part of that manufacturer.

All of what you say boils down to individual subjective perceptions coupled with a lack of even the slightest bit of diligence. Using the foundations of your own argument, Henry Ford should have sued all "copycat" manufacturers of automobiles early on for, as you say, since they all looked like a basic "You can have any color you want as long as it's black" Ford, the other manufacturers were clearly trying to tag along on Ford's coattails of success, and deceive the public into thinking they were buying something they weren't.

Furthermore, as function tends to dictate form, if you were to place side-by-side say six different coffee makers, !’d be willing to bet that, from a distance, you nor I could tell the difference between them, would not jump to conclusions about brand based upon color, and would take the time to educate ourselves as to those brands. I might be wrong, but also think you would not do that with people either. Why then are so many, like you, willing to do just that with a tractor?

Kioti, way back when, as a fledging tractor mfr in the U.S., probably did make a conscious decision to leverage off the Kubota brand. I think that makes perfect since from their point of view. Folks might at least look at Kioti. Alls fair in love and business. I would probably do the same.

Now Kioti is more established. The name is great. The color is here to stay, as it's been too long now. And Kioti can and does stand on it's own four tires. Their tractors are as good as anyone's.

In this light, sure seems like they made a good business decision way back when to ride on the Kubota name recognition. But, in some respects, it's hurting them now. Many of the uninformed (most of the public) sees the orange Kiotis and automatically assumes it's a Kubota. Most don't even look at the name plate. So, the color/name have come full circle to some degree where it detracts from brand recognition. To counter this, Daedong made a good play when they signed Bobcat: two brand names now in the U.S. market will certainly increase their overall sales. And yes, many of the BC buyers don't seem to know that the BC is the same as a Kioti, at least not until they use this site.

Interesting perception.. the first paragraph... SO, if a consumer drives by and sees orange paint. He is in the market for a tractor, and pulls in thinking its a Kubota, only to find out its a Kioti,(or any other brand) Hasn't the intended deception initally and intentionally done by the manufacturer "worked as intended"? It got a potential Kubota customer into a dealership where there are no Kubotas, but a competitors product!
If you were in the market for a John Deere and drove by a dealership with a yard full of JD Green and Yellow, would you NOT think it was a new JD dealer??? It seems to be akin to the old bait and switch tactics used by electronics stores.
As for coffee makers... not sure/don't really care.. but I would be willing to bet almost 99 cents that they are all made in one or two factories in some 3rd world country...
Not sure about where others are from, and Kioti may have a better dealership foothold in other parts of the country... Around here they do not.. there have been several "flavor of the month" dealerships pop up and carry them for awhile, but they dont sell well and they get dropped for something else. Thats NOT a vote of confidence on ANY product.
When it came time for me to purchase 20K worth of tractor, the last thing I want is no dealership infrastructure and resale value to go into the toilet.
That would be like buying a Saturn!!.

If it was not for companies who made parts for other companies, we would only have one processor chip Intel, so a little reverse engineering and improvement has given us competition, and that drives prices down for the consumer.

As for color belonging to any one brand, JD would have you believe all that green is JD. I don't think colors should be trademarked, why can you just order a silver Kioti or Kubota or JD, note Funny how Kubota starts with a K which just happens to come after J ? If I was ever to have my Kioti custom painted I would probably go with British racing Green, and go with Ferrari yellow for trim and rims:thumbsup:.

I bought a Kioti not because of color but because of research on this site and others, Price / value, and the dealer wanted my business and was willing to deal compared to the other more established dealers thats the price take it or leave it.:D

Same reason the Dukes of Hazard painted the general that color.

I have been on TBN for quite some time, and I read all of the postings for all of the brands and try to help no mater what the color is W/O brand bashing.
This thread started off by asking a simple question Who makes engine and trans for Kioti and has tuned in to a brand bashing again.
The Kioti forum seems to be like a magnet and attracts Kubota owners and or dealers who like to come here drop a TURD and leave.
You came on the Kioti forum with a burr under your saddle right from the start and you only have been a member for less than a month so whats your problem?

I guess I was wrong about you. You do tend to judge a book by its cover only. I apologize for thinking otherwise.

I do NOT for I have seen many a DOT yellow JD, CIH, Ford/NH, MF, and even 'bota...and not have immedaitely jumped to the conclusion they must be MM, or if you prefer a newer make, Cat. Heck, I've even seen a pink FORD. My point is that there are only like 7 basic colors without white, black, and brown, and how many tractors manufacturers? Some similarities are inevitable.

I believe if there has been intentional blurring of the lines between Kubota and Kioti, it was perpetrated by some less than reputable dealers, or by persons such as yourself who seem to frequently jump to conclusions based upon color.

Judging by the name he picked for himself, he's more about image than substance. I think I'll start referring to my tractor as SmartMansKubota. You guys can feel free to use it too..

I must admit that I did wonder why Kioti chose orange, I agree with who ever asked why they didn't choose something distinctive. I saw a kioti on youtube that was pink, not my favorite color but I could've understood why they did it. I actually been thinking about what color I would choose if I was making a tractor, probably black as i haven't seen a black tractor

I would've bought a kioti, regardless of color, cause it was a good deal.
