I'm confused now. What are you trying to say with the Ahwi brochure for the FTX130/140 machines? (Those two machines are built by Rayco here in the USA BTW)

From what I understood, Fecon does indeed use Awhi's carbide hammer technology under license... But for the crawlers, who makes what for Fecon and do they make it also for Awhi, that, I don't know...

Here is what I know...not very much but that never bothered me before. Rayco makes the FTX-140 and the FTX-100L and the 90. Camoplast makes the FTX-148L. Geoboy makes the 250 (maybe it seems to have Camo tracks on it), Versatrac makes the 350 (just learned that from Fred) and they build the 440 themselves at the plant in Ohio. I am pretty sure that the heads are built there as well but do not gamble on that assumption. When I get new teeth they are stamped with AWHI. I think it is just a license deal with them.

It was just the first page i found to post but i thought it was quite explanitory in that it clearly says the Fecon head is an Ahwi . Do a Google on Ahwi hydraulic , you will see that they do in fact make hydraulic heads which you seemed to think they did not .

AHWI FM500HSS Wide Body Hydraulic Mulcher Fitted to both Fecon FTX 130 and 140 machines is the wide (1750 mm cutting width) version of AHWI痴 popular FM500HSS mulching head. AHWI toolholders are made bigger and stronger too, avoiding costly breakages.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Has anyone out there experienced problems with the FTX 140? Do they have any design flaws or other issues?

There were several issues with the FTX-140 but all have been addressed with factory upgrades.

1) The mounting plate was not strong enough to handle the power so the factory replaced the skid steer mounting plate with a three pin design. I have had no problems with the mount since less than 100 hours on my machine.

2) The C-Frame developed cracks at about 500-600 hours. The factory replaced the C-Frame with a much beefier unit and I have had no other problems.

3) The final drives had issues with breakage but the factory has replaced them with upgraded units and I have had no more problems.

4) The frame was designed with fuel and hydraulic reseviors inside. If operating in heavy dense material or rocky terrain the junction between the end of the tank and the front frame unit would develop cracks. The factory addressed this with a welded in saddle type repair. I did develop a fuel leak after this was installed but it was fixed under warranty and have had no more issues.

My machine now has over 1700 hours on it and it starts and runs every day. It took some growing pains but Fecon stepped up and this baby cuts like nobody's business. If you get a machine with all of the upgrades installed you will be pretty happy with your new toy.

Iron Horse I HATE to break your heart but I have personnaly been to the Fecon factory in Ohio and I have seen with my very own eyes the manufacture of the heads and the FTX-440. THEY ARE BUILT IN OHIO! Back in the day they may have been imported but not for the last several years!

The way it was explained to me was that Fecon is making the mulching heads in the US under a licensed agreement with AHWI. AHWI only makes the tracked RT400 and 3-pt mulchers for large tractors in Europe. One of the Fecon machines is actually a machine built in Canada and i think it is made by Camoplast a maker of rubber trracks for ASV.

DD you are right, the FTX 100-L is manufactured by Rayco also in Ohio, the FTX 148-L is built by Camoplast in Canada, except for the steel track undercarriage which Fecon builds in the factory in Ohio. The FTX 440-FM is built start to finish in the Ohio factory and the FTX 350 is built by Versatrac in Canada. All of the heads are built at the lebanon factory. I would not swear to this in court but I am pretty sure I am accurate.
