Robert,
Though I'm sure you've read all the specs, do keep in mind that the ground clearance between the 4x4 and 6x6 Polaris Ranger differs considerably. While the 6x6 may give you more floatation and more tractive surface, the ground clearance is a lot less than the 4x4. Just something to keep in mind during your trials and deliberations.

Personally, I'm looking for a farm/woods UTV also and I have a similar situation with lots of really wet ground as well as some areas that are very rocky. In my case, I believe that ground clearance will be a big consideration for my use.

Good luck with the demos this fall and keep us posted with the results of your trials.

Thanks, ground clearance is something I do always consider. Regardless to how much clearance it has I will have as much armor under the machine as possible to protect it from tree limbs, rocks, logs, mud and any other unforseen object that will want to pop up.

The tree limbs from the apple trees are a pain in the back side as they are always flipping up and catching something. They don't usually do any damage but they can.

well i have to but in here on the ground clearance . my hpx only has less than 8" in the rearend and i go through 24"ruts i go through tractor ruts / i climb over downed treesnow the polaris has 11"of clearance and i see a video of a ranger climbing over a downed tree that is 24"or bigger i have been in ruts that the tires never touched the bottom but the angle i was on i went through them like they was nuthin.ground clearance is not the end all cure to nut getting stuck or being able to cross anything. it's practice. i have been driving these offroad atv's / utv's all my life and it's all in the way you drive them. with the right tires and some patients you can get out of most rut's and holes.

well 489's won't get ya to for.lol i did forget to mention you need something better than stock tires too .sorry thanks for catching me on it .i know when i had my 489's they would pack up quick but after i switched to the 589's they are a whole diferent ball game one the grabbing i would like some with more of a side lug too. but the 589's never let me down yet.

489s seem to wear fast. I never really noticed it but when I looked at a new XUV the tread is a lot deaper on the new 489s and I seem to be getting stuck a lot more easily this year. Of course I think I'm up to a little over 570 hours but still..

i looked at the 25"489's at wallyworld and they seem to have a 1"tread and i think the 24"'s have 3/4" and the 598''s have a wopping 1"and 1/4 lol almost a 1"1/2 with them being a 6 ply tire you could shave a little out and make them deeper.after a year of driving on the pavement and alot of mud riding a still have 1"of tread left on my front tires the back never even started to wear down.
