Who rides motorcycles?

I do!
Would post pics but that would take a while.
I had 13 just a few years back. I am down to 7 right now. Street bikes, dirt bikes, ATV's, and a UTV.
I have been owning and riding for over 50 years.

I had 16 bikes when I was 16, and 18 traffic tickets when I was 18.
I bought a bike and sold it, and kept reinvesting in motorcycles at 14. Then my uncle told be to get all those motorcycles out of his back yard. I could have had a great career.

I like that classic air-head design.

If I ever had enough room in my bank account and garage for one, I'd want guards on the cylinders...... nobody wants to go for a slide, but I'd hate the thought of grinding down one of those jugs on the road.....

Well....looks like a banzai trip to FL next weekend for a race. Rider I am helping asked if there was any way I could be there to help. Need to get to know the new chassis/engine set up guy better. Maybe an audition for a crew chief job.....

Just ordered some new tires tonight :cool2:...... better late than never......

I was going to put this in the Front Porch, under "World Peace..... just needs more bikers", but figured it wouldn't end well there.....

"I loved Yamaha Ventures. IMO, Yamaha could have made a real badboy full dress tourer, if they had put the NEW Vmax engine in it. The bike they made instead is a nice bike, with a big air cooled Vtwin, but the VMAX engine would have had people standing in line to get one. LOL."

I've got a 2016 V-Max and love it. It is definitely that V4 engine that makes it the great bike that it is. The bike is extremely smooth handling (although with it's weight not exactly in sport bike company) and the power available seems to be endless. My nerve hits redline well before the bike does. If I have a complaint it's the extremely small fuel tank really limits your range between fill ups. I ride alone so I'm looking at rigging up an auxiliary tank I can attach to the passenger seat. Plenty of people on the V-Max forums have done exactly that.

Prior to the Max, I've always been a sport bike rider and definitely miss the razor sharp handling that comes with that class. At my age I'm not sure I could do the bikes justice, but I'm willing to try. Reality is I've only got a few more years that my body could handle the aggressive riding positions required. I'm strongly considering one to park alongside the V-Max even if it's only a few years before I have to sell it. I guess growing old is easier than growing up.View attachment 585180

I was always a sport bike guy for my street bikes since my '76 RD400.

It is hard to tell people just how much power/torque the last gen VMax has. If your doing 60-70, click down from top gear just one gear, and wick it. Hold on. In about 3 seconds your doing close to 100, maybe more.

Have you gotten it out since winter yet?

Used to ride through Giddings enroute to the ROT in Austin. I was on a BMW R1150GS. I would open it up between Bellville and Brenham. Never got a sniff from a trooper (lucky). I still have the 2001 BMW GS oilhead. I still will hit 135 MPH indicated.

Love those VMax's! Some kind of awesome power. Never owned one, but wish I had. Brings back fond memories, yeah even on a Harley:

My first bike, a '94 Harley FLHT (ex-cop bike), and spouses' 1990 FLHS (best bike Harley ever made!. Cruising on a quick weekend run from Houston... left Amarillo to run to Roswell. We were out in the middle of no-where, 100mph with our throttle locks on (no cruise back then), and in the distance we see a fast car coming up. Sure enough, it's a State Trouper in one of those hot Mustangs. We knew it was way too late to slow down, so we just kept on trucking at 100. He pulls up next to us, threw a thumbs up, and gassed it. No doubt he kicked it up to at least 130. He too, was having some fun. ahh.... the good ole days.

I went on having owned a 1983 SilverWing, 1988 GoldWing and a 2002 GoldWing. But was never without a Harley. Got rid of the 'Wings, but kept my last Harley until I gave it to my son. Before donating it, I jacked it up to 114hp. Even at that, it simply would not hold a candle to the VMax's. The world is full of mighty fine bikes, with the VMax being right near the top, IMHO naturally.
