She probably is burning bridges one by one and she already burned that one so she moved on to you're bridge..

That was my first thought: "no more ciggy's on credit for you!"

Is it too soon to burn this "bridge?" Match the title to any of the last three pages and you'll see that "I'm no angel" either.

Moochers will always be at your doorstep, the price of compassion.

If there is a bit of truth to the movie "Serpico," I would question the honesty of a large percentage of the LEOs in one of our largest cities.

Serpico was a popular movie, yet if memory serves me there was only one cop tried for a crime. Sometimes fiction doesn't mimic life after all.

When some one says that they can't hire any one, what they are really saying is that they don't want to pay a wage that any one would be interested in. :)
I've seen a ton of useless kids, I taught as an adjunct auto instructor at night for a while. I also saw good ones. And I have seen/heard plenty of what you speak of. Alot of employers want to pay too little for skilled labor.

And part of the reason for that (in my opinion) is the difficulty in finding people who are worth being paid more (ie: they have a head on their shoulders, they are teachable, they can pass a drug test, a background check and they show up on time willing to work).
The other part is people wanting to skin every nickel that comes across their fingers...

Neither will personal anecdotes. Seems to me that those who have the most bad experiences with cops are the ones who attract trouble in the first place.

I never said there weren't bad cops, but I'm not sure they're disproportionate to any other occupations. Politicians, well.... :smiley_aafz:

You are correct about the anecdotal ‘evidence’. Everybody seems to have a ‘bad cop’ story to tell whenever the subject comes up. Usually revolves around a perceived slight at a traffic stop or some pretty minor miscommunication.

Most of them would pizz their pants at the first hint of trouble if they worked a midnight shift in a big city or even with a country deputy when he has about 900 square miles to cover alone all night.

I don't want to "work". I put that in quotes because I am a workaholic so I am always doing something, but I want it to be what I want to do, and not because I have too.

My reason is sound. I watched older generations like my father or grandfather get plowed over by their employers. They had this silly idea that no matter what, getting yelled at, getting taken advantage of, get shortened on pay, or not getting enough money per hour, you stuck it out in one job, and in the end you would be rewarded.

They never did.

Why should I do that? That is silly to rely on someone else for your well-being.

So I realized what the gig was a long time ago, and that it is not how much you make, but how much you spend. So all my life I have been a minimalist, did the jobs no one else wanted, but maneuvered my way into well-paying jobs. I had two wives that could not see the "plan" and so I got divorced twice, but it came together on May 27th 2016 when I retired at age 42.

People have said, "it is not fair", or "you have to work." No I do not, I planned well ahead.

It was like when I was in High School. I realized in Freshmen year, if I did not take a study hall, took the right classes, I could go to Diesel Tech, and Welding in my senior year. All I had to take for a class was English to graduate. And that is what happened. Other kids said, "that is not fair", but it was. They could have done the same thing as me, but while I was taking more classes, and doing ALL my homework at home, they were throwing spit balls in study hall, and talking. In short, I put the work up front, to be rewarded later. My early retirement was just that.

Today...the rear tire let go on my boom mower, so as it is being fixed, I was asked to spread mulch hay on some ditchings on a road. Why not. I don't have to, but work takes on a whole new meaning when you do not have to work. And the money; 90% of it goes to charity. In this case, we have a couple at church whose son has cancer and they cannot afford gas money to drive an hour each way, every day to go see him. I'll literally work so they can do that.

The point of all this is, Work is good. I can say that because work was being performed BEFORE the fall of mankind in the bible. What I feel the real sad culprit is, America has not learned how insidious debt is. When you get a loan, you have to pay 100% of it back, plus a portion of YOUR MONEY. It is called interest, and it is why banks have the biggest buildings in every town and city. Fooey with that!
