Why does the wife always...?

/ Why does the wife always...? #31
My wife retired in June 2016. Learning from her demonstration of retired life, I intend to put off my retirement for as long as possible (I'll be 70 next March). Of course, this hasn't impeded the inexorable growth of the "honey-do" list at home. A growing herd of horses on a 250 ac property can be a maintenance nightmare! Add special projects on top the routine jobs, and it seems my time at the office is almost the only rest I get! Getting back into the office after a long weekend is like a reprieve from a hard-labor sentence...and I don't even like my job all THAT much.

Been there. I find contract work when the honey do list gets ......unmanageable. LOL. Did I just say that? LOL.

Boy , I must be a lucky one , been married 31 years and my wife has never complained about projects etc. I'm more about getting them done before she asks. She' s let me by an excavator before for our 50 ac. Property we had, not even one comment. Latest one was she texted me and asked if I wanted to buy a corvette a girl at her work was selling. Turned it down cause it was a year I wasn't interested in. I usually get her what she would like etc. but she is not high maintenance by any means. Just a down to earth country women. I couldn't be happier. Retiring in a couple years and I don't see a honey do list .

My wife's honey do list reads like this;

1 Install outlet.
2 Take garbage to dumps.
3 wash truck.
4 trim a small tree.
5 Build house.
6 Call on insurance.
7 Go to Walmart for pills.
8 Fix leaky faucet.
9 Build garage.
10 Order part for washing machine.

She loves lists but I really got a chuckle out of #5 and 9 on the list as if I could forget those somehow.
Been married for 47 years and anytime I needed help and even when I didn't she was right there by my side from putting forms in for footings to concreting to building walls for our houses to roofing. On top of all that she does all the cooking and cleaning and any other chit job I don't want to do. Her lists are a pain but I will put up with them and poke fun of her for them but I will keep her.

"will it ever end?"

Yes it will as I found out a few months ago when my bride of more than 48 years suddenly and unexpectedly died.
Cherish those moments. I'd give anything to have those problems.

I'm sorry to hear that man. Thoughts and prayers are with you!

Yep, I hate it when my wife says "We" should (or need to) . . . . . .." Never understood why she says "We" instead of "You".

Most accurate observation anywhere on the internet.

My brother is 9 years my senior, two years ago his wife passed. They had been married over 50 years, think they were both 70. I have a great wife but really brought the fact one day the Lord will call one home and the other will most likely be left. I saw how much he missed here, they had a business they worked in together and worked together in their Church and of course at home. It was very hard. It helped me to appreciate the time I was able to spend with my wife and out children even more. It is at best very short.

oldprigrim, I am sorry for your loss but thank you so much for sharing and remind each one of us how valuable and special our wife is. My you find God's grace.
