Why people can't discuss politics politely

Re: Why people can\'t discuss politics politely

I think in the book of Proverbs it says its folly to argue with the ignorant.
Somehow email/ forum discussion can have a "tone" to it without benefit of seeing someones facial expression or body language.
On the other hand Ive lived long enough to observe someone "hold their position" (yes happens even me) to later find that person bend their position on something maybe based on some evidence that was presented or maybe they understand you're not totally ignorant and time softened them up.

Oh that one is simple!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Mac's are for women who just "use" the computer as a tool and want it to just work.

PC's are for men and their like the "new" hot rods. Make 'em faster, soup 'em up, mod 'em, put 1001 different OS's on the same hardware.

See HERE for examples.

If I have offended anyone, then ya shoulda bought a PC!!!!! hehehehehe /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Simple people have simple ways.....

My dad always paraphrased that scripture by saying "Argueing with a moron makes you one"....

I like the "kinder/gentler" version from Proverbs, but the point was driven home at an early age....

Is the quesition of human nature in general or in reference to recent threads here?

Either way, I was very pleased that the moderators here allowed plenty of latitude on a couple recent political based topics that struck close to home for all of us. Beyond that, I'd gladly "play in the mud" to keep things interesting and to understand broader thoughts by people who share at least one common interest, but since it often seems to degrade, I can understand why such things are "strongly discouraged." [even at that, I'm sure my twist on things sometimes adds a little rain to the slippery slope threads experience before dying from less than old age].

OK I'm babbling now......carry on! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

PS Sure did enjoy the bloodsucker joke....almost as much as the picture with "Junkman" on a spit....now that's classic! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Because most people don't know enough to debate an issue. They read something in the paper or hear it on the news and think it's either true or false. In reality and this is me thinking, the news media is the most biased organization on the planet. They create controversy and controversy sells stories.
