Wife Having Neck Surgery

I don't know why I don't search TBN before searching the net. I was looking to see what I could find out about neck surgery and one of the links on the first page was to this thread. The reason that I was looking was that I go in next Thursday to fix C4-5 and C5-6.

I wish you the best Jerry. Please post as soon as you are out of surgery and able so we all know you are up and going.

Hope all goes well, Jerry, and we'll be expecting a fast recovery.

After reading all the posts and responses, I am curious, how did these injuries come about? Are they old lingering ones from younger football days, automobile crashes, etc.? I hope everyone that has the surgery fairs well, but I would also like to avoid the injury in the first place if possible.

I don't know about everyone else but I did mine the easy way and just fell off a roof. Don't do that and you should be fine;)

Thanks guys. We are taking by wifes laptop computer with us so I can keep up on TBN.:) The surgery is in Dallas which is 6.5 hours from where we live. The Doctor wanted me to stay in Dallas until next Tuesday because we live so far away. It's not exactly my idea of a vacation but I guess we will have to stay.

Good Luck Jerry and post as soon as you are able.

My wife seems to be doing good. She was unable to eat anything solid for about a week. She lived on milkshakes, yogurt, and soup.

We went Friday and she was fitted with a electronic collar that she has to use for 4 hours a day. She can break it up for 2 hours at a time. The electronic pulse will aid in the donor bone fusing. It is not a tight fitting collor but one that hangs loosely around the neck.

When the doctor told us this was a common surgery we thought he was just saying that to put us at ease. However since my wife has had her surgery you would not believe the number of people I have talked to that has had this done. I took my sons car to have it inspected last week and talked to a guy there that was 8 weeks post surgery. I seem to be running into people everywhere that has had this done.

So if you are a little apprehensive don't worry it is a fairly common surgery:) .

Soon as I feel like it I will be on TBN in the motel.
