Never known anyone to have a second hot tub. Once rid of the first one; nevermore. But I'm sure there are exceptions to that; just that I never met one of them.

I couldn't have said it any better myself Bird. The ex-wife and I built a hot tub into a custom deck some years ago. The kids brought home friends and we saw friends and relatives that we haden't seen in years. They all came and wanted to take a dip in the 102 degree outdoor tub.

But what I remember the best was after everyone else had gone home for the day I was the one stuck with all the clean up on the hot tub. hairspray, deodorant, perfume, foam, hair, and god knows what bacteria left behind in the hot tub. That's not to mention having to feed all the guests and I don't ever remember anyone bringing even so much as a bottle along. As far as I'm concerned leaving that tub with my ex was the best thing that I left behind bar none. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Guess Highbeam and I are the only hot tub fans in this discussion. We have had one for about 6 years at our weekend home and will soon add another one to our country home. The wife is the one who wanted the first one and I thought it would be a novelty that would last a year and then sit ideal. Well I am the one who wanted the cabin so it was prudent of me to agree to the hot tub. To my surprise we use it year round and it has been relatively trouble free. Ours is in a screen porch which I think helps keep the maintenance down and we bought a pretty expensive one (Hot Springs) because there is no getting it out of that porch which hangs off the side of a mountain. Sure helps with some of those aches and pains that come with age and boy do I sleep good after some time in that tub.

We have moved our Hot Springs Spa with us now on two moves. My L3830 picked up the whole enchilada both times and set it on the trailer. We have had it since 1995 and still enjoy the heck out of it, spa bacteria and all. I think it makes us stronger. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We were hessitant, for all the reasons in this thread, to get a spa. We did however, about 7 years ago. It get used daily. When it rains, there's a good chance it will still be used, albeit you'll see an umbrella out there...

I've had my Hot Springs tub since '93. Moved it to our current home in 2003. I bribed a guy at work with $60 to stop by and use the forklift on his delivery truck to get it off the second story deck. The only ones to use it are my girlfriend and myself and that's not more than once or twice a week. Maintenence is minimal with that amount of use. I've found that 104*, two Tylenol and a couple of adult beverages helps most aches and pains. The thermostat has been changed a couple of times and it need it's third cover but, that's not bad after 13 years and the parts are still on the shelf at the dealer when needed. Turn the temp down in the summer and its as refreshing as a pool on a hot day, with jets. If this one ever dies, I probably will replace it with another Hot Springs tub.
