Boy you sure hit the nail on the head there! She will usually give me enough details to let me draw the "right" conclusion. She is always finding a way to let me think that I have won when actually she ends up getting exactly what she wants.

I am sure that I will pay dearly for this little oil change stunt. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

In my lifetime, I've met THREE women who could lead me around by the nose. My MOTHER. And she should have been able to do that. My wife. When we met, she'd let everyone run over her. I taught her different. Now she runs over me. #3, My daughter. And she's got this little girl of her own who's getting all the tutoring from granny and mom on how to do what they already excell at.

My fate is sealed. That happened seconds after the "I do".

Wife's folks had a backyard, inground pool while she was growing up, every time we visited my in laws she told me, maybe some day we can have a pool too? Well, my in laws decided they wanted to get rid of theirs, and my better half told me, NOW is our chance to have a pool. I told her since I'd be the one who had to maintain it, and I can't swim, it had no place in our backyard. We argued a lot about it, but the pool didn't end up here.

About two years after the pool incident, we decided to build an addition to our house. Guess where the addition was built on...the only choice we had was the backyard, and the addition was roughly the same size as the pool would have been.

About a year after all the construction was done, we were sitting on the new deck admiring the sunrise. And my wife said to me:

"Honey, I'm glad you didn't want that pool...."

Fourteen years of marriage, and she FINALLY told me I had made a correct decision.

I'm going to treasure the memories of that morning for the rest of my life.

If you get stuck getting a spa, try a portable one. I got one at Costco for $1500 about ... 2 girlfriends ago. Delivered by UPS in 9 boxes. Snaps together, weighs nothing, 120V heater and pump, can be smashed with tractor and put into trashs can if needed. I see they make nicer looking ones with more features now for the same price.
Cheers!

I am on my fourth year now of hot tubbing several nights per week. I am not a rain tubber, a super hot day tubber, or a cold and windy tubber but set me out there on night when the ground is covered with snow and give me a tall glass of bourbon and coke and I am about as happy as I'll ever be. We keep it cooler than some at 100 degrees which lets you soak for a long time. It is also a time when the wife and I, plus the kids are not distracted by the phone, TV, chores, or tractors. We talk.

I do agree though that the typical buyer is done with it in about a year, but what a great year.

Of course I grew up as a pool rat working at pools and swimming competitively so it is in my blood.
