Wife's reaction to washing my tractor

Your not alone also wash both riders and tractor,wife's car not so much.

Neighbor was washing his truck and asked me how often I washed mine. I said I think I washed it last year but maybe it was year before last. I waxed it twice in its lifetime and it is a 2007 and water still beads on it so it must be still good. Just about all it does is set in the garage now. It goes to get lawnmower gas about once a month and that is it. It still smells new inside.
We use the wife's 2003 Bravada for most trips around the homestead. Last time we planned a trip to Houston, I had to charge the battery on the Honda CRV. It had sat so long the battery was completely dead. It gets washed before each trip and we only use it for special occasions.
I was my tractors more than I was any of the cars. They get the mud washed off when they get dirty. I don't wax them though but I probably should do it at least once. They both set under a shed mostly out of the sun.

I have washed mine off several times since I bought it and actually put some 303 Aerospace Protectant on the tires. Then proceeded to brush hog and put a really big tree stub in the right rear tire that now has two plugs in it.

On the farm (1950's through 80's) the tractors were washed regularly, every time it rained! We didn't have a place to keep anything inside except the hay baler.

We had a "tractor shed" that kept the Super A Farmall, M Farmall, and WD 45 Allis in the dry. That was in addition to the baler, rake, drill, and combine. Everything tillage was out in the elements. One bay on the end kept the welder, grinder, and various supplies. Open on one side and closed on three ends. Just a simple tin covered pole shed. Washing tractors? My grandfather would have thought you were out of your mind.
When I got done tilling last night, I sprayed off the dash and instrument panel because I was having a hard time reading the gauges due to all the dirt and dust. After reading all these stories I feel kind of bad, like I neglect the poor tractor or something. I hope none of you turn me in to PETT.

Wonder how she would feel about waxing it. :laughing: Mine gets washed when needed and waxed once a year. Not sure I will keep that up through the life of the tractor, but when one considers the initial cost of the investment, I figure its a plus to keep it looking good as long as possible :thumbsup:

I spray mine off with a pressure washer regularly but have never "washed" it. Actually, the pressure washer keeps it pretty clean. Good enough that I don't get oily, greasy, or muddy just hooking and unhooking implements.
