Bird,

We got about an inch over here, north of Decatur!

Eddie,

Relax a little more about the whole thing and I'll just bet it'll go better. Had the same problem with a few coyotes a couple of years ago and after I relaxed and didn't worry about them so much, both got busted within the first three days of "relaxation"!!

I have thought about a trap, but as of right now, I'm stalling on it. I don't want to pay for a good one, and the cheap ones are not worth the money. I'll make one when I get a chance, but it's at the bottom of my list.

I bush hogged around the place Monday and opened it up some. Nothing came in that night, and last night we unplugged the sensor because we were exhausted and didn't want to know if one showed up.

He did. We don't know what time, but the tracks are there and the bird seed is cleaned up from the ground.

I'm really gonna have to do something about this.
Eddie

Eddie,

I would hate to be those hogs when they get to the top of your list! Whether it's building a home, overhauling a dozer, etc... you seem to conquer any task and I'm sure those hogs would just be another notch on your belt. Good luck.

Eddie,

Around ********* there are several people that will trap them for you. Probably in your area too. No charge, I am sure they sell them.

Eddie, you have the perfect trap situation. They already love to come to your place :D I have seen extremely effective hog trap made from several cattle panels wired into a circle, held up with T-posts and an entrance made so they can enter, but not likely to successfully exit. Materials are reusable when you have caught them all... Once I posted details of this on TBN but I just searched and can no longer find it... if interested, PM me . Total cost should be under $100 and it has the capability to capture multiple hogs at once.... not just one. Then, you can just jump in with your barlow knife and cut 'em up:eek:

As Steph and I were going to bed at 12:30 am, I looked out our front window and spotted the hog. It hadn't set off the sensor yet, but was pointed in that direction.

I told Steph, who could also see it out the window. She didn't want to shoot it, so it was up to me.

The kids were in the same bedroom watching TV and still awake. I told them I was about to shoot a hog out of one of the other bedroom window.

I expected it to be a boar. My experience has been that a lone hog is usually a boar. The sows are more social and are usualy in groups of others sows and piglets. This was a lone sow.

She was 30 feet from the house when I shot her and weighed around 150 pounds.

We all went from tired and ready for sleep, to wide awake and having a party!!

The kids really got a kick out of this, but Steph isn't to happy about it being so close to the house. She said it's just a matter of time until the next one. I think this could be a good thing. Pig hunting from the upstairs bedroom window!!

These are her kids. They are 8 and 5 years old.

That's a nice looking animal Eddie,
It's an unusual color from the ones I've seen. Black Russian mix and even the Feral hogs are usually black or black with a white belt or something. I did get one close to that color once, it was very reddish unlike most others I've seen.
