Completely clear here. Even had a quick rain. The fall rains should start up soon on the east side, hopefully.

Good to hear. It drizzled here ( 0.020" ) for twenty hours - two days ago. It is warming up here - finally - this morning. An hour ago it was 38F here. Winter BETTER NOT be starting this soon. As the sun began to rise about an hour ago - the wind shifted direction and it has cleared here also. I was up at 2:30 and it was pretty smoky smelling,

Same temperature here this morning. Our birch trees are yellow and the snowshoe hare have began their transformation too. Alaska State Fair weather arrived super early this year...rain, rain and more rain. The "Fall Smell" is here too, the smell of damp decay. At least you still have hope of more summer.

OH - MAN - - Doofy - I better NOT go out and smell that smell of fall - - NOT yet anyhow. Every year I will go out in November around here and "that" smell is everywhere. Makes me think of late moose hunting season. Unless we got an early winter - you could still smell the damp, moldy leaves of fall. We would usually hunt around mile 175 - New Fairbanks hwy - Hurricane Gulch and its spectacular bridge. I will tell you of the plaque the US iron workers put on the Hurricane Gulch bridge. Honors the Korean steel workers who built this bridge - very few words - a large engraved hand - middle finger erect. Also honors the State Dept of Highways who award the construction contract to the Korean company.

Down here in Colfax we have clear air (now) with a wind from south. WX said smoke in northern areas. Temps have eased off to normal seasonal (70s)

Hasn't been smoky but its been that sort of translucent effect. Looking thru a very light blue haze or mist. Our wind has been out of the SW all day. If Colfax has wind out of the S and we have winds out of the SW - - somebodies fires down south are getting under control. Ea Oregon or even N Cal perhaps.
