Wildfires - smoke

It was cold( 45F ) and fairly clear at 4AM today. However - as daylight approached - it was obvious the heavy smoke/ash overcast would never let the sun shine thru. Its been from down right cold this AM to cool this afternoon. No sun and no stinky smoke smell today.

No bright sun from the smoke all the way up here, crazy..

This morning isn't so bone chilling cold, like yesterday, and the air is not smoky. Hope we have another clear day coming.

Oops - 4:30am update. The smoke & ash is back again. Just out on the porch - its icky again.

Better this morning, no ash, very slight smell.

Finally - relief. Its been drizzling here for the last three hours. So far we have received - - 0.02 of an inch. Just about enough to make the ground damp. But it sure knocked the smoke and ash out of the air.

Thick, thick smoke today all across northern Nevada. Limited visibility and **** on my sinuses!

We are having a MAJOR rain event here. In the last 14 hours it has rained almost constantly and we have received - 0.140" A little over 1/8". This has got to be helping the wildfire situation.

Amen... the cleansing power of precipitation... unless you get 50" like Hawaii.

Or you live in Ketchikan, AK where average annual rainfall is 150 inches and has been as high a 203 inches.

We are now up to the record breaking amount of - - 0.20" in the last 20 hours. If it continues this way we will receive a quarter inch - 0.250" in 24 hours.

Its almost enough to make all our powder dry earth a bit damp.

It certainly is a true joy to have nice, clean, cool air. I didn't realize how icky it was until this rain cleared everything.
