After having so much fun today with my fel & 6 inches of really wet snow I have decided I need a front plow. While looking through ebay I stumbled onto this: 7' Snow Plow Skid Steer & Tractor Dozer Blade - eBay (item 220523448205 end time Dec-17-09 11:25:11 PST)

It appears to be exactly what I am looking for and the seller isn't that far away. I just not experienced enough to know if it will really mate to my Quick Attach loader arms on the L3400. Are these skid steer fixtures really that standard?
It seems to that I would use the hydraulics that roll the bucket to rotate the plow.

Where the bidding is now its about 1/2 the price of a new Curtis, but will it work???

Comments appreciated!

I think it would fit but you will need a seperate hydraulic valve to operate it. It would be much cheaper to just build a plow out of a truck plow like many others have done.

Thanks for the response Rob. Is there some reason why I couldn't use the hydraulics that currently roll the bucket?

Hmmm... I don't know. My BX valve block runs all front hydraulic implements.

Someone who has built one from a plow, and attached the hydraulics could give you an estimate on the costs of going that route vis a vis bidding on the unit of which you spoke.

You will still need that, the curl cylinders will most likely leak down a little with the weight of that plow hanging out there, so you will need to adjust it. OR you could figure a way to chain the curl cylinders to take the weight off them...but you will have to experiment to get the angle just right.

If you have ever thought about getting a grapple, then the new circuit would be used for that also.

I have a rig exactly like that with a diverter valve on the curl circuit. Works fine.

Yea, believe it or not they are all built to a standard that fits any piece of equiptment with a quick hitch plate like that. I buy adapter plates where ever I can get a good price and reasonable shipping charges. Looks nice but yoou will need a separate valve or diverter valve to work it.
