Might be something to do with the compact 3 digit deers having 3pt lift capacities similar to their model number.. and thus.. roughly half of many other manufacturers rated 3pt lift weight for similar sized machines.. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Don't worry.. I like green.. I got a purty '50 B in the barn.

And the unused, but still capable of running smoothly, JD lawnmower sits in the corner, knowing that the advertising that sold it over hyped it and its design is actually pretty poorly done. So while it runs well (thanks to that amazing Kawasaki engine) it sits and waits, collecting dust, because nobody really wants to deal with a machine that does not perform up to its hype. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Re: Will you Yellow bottoms ever exceed NH\'s posts for

Oops, Bob, NONE of this thread is serious!

Sorry your Deere isn't what you wanted or were led to believe it was. Believe it or not there many happy owners of Green that have similar woes with some of the colors that have done well for you!

But that is WAY to serious for this thread...

But thanks for adding a post here to help us catch up to Blue!

Gee, Bob, where did that come from? Perhaps you could be more specific about what hype and what performance problems in a thread devoted to the topic? Reviews of such situations which include details -- even bad reviews -- are always welcome especialy if you're interested in perhaps rectifying any of the problems.

Re: Will you Yellow bottoms ever exceed NH\'s posts for

Well I wasn't trying to be serious! That is why I used all the colors.

But the JD mower has served me well, it is poorly designed and causes blisters to the hands (everyone who used this complained about this problem so it is not just me) because the handle and safety switch are both awkward to use and designed badly. But it does work and I'd consider another JD mower because this one is about 15 years old and still working well.

As far as Oliver's being the correct color green, well I was serious about that. And the entire Hart-Parr Oliver's Collectors Association will meet you JD guys out in a field and we can go at it with wet noodles until the victor leaves well fed.

Hmmm.......never paid any real attention to which boards have the most posts. But I do guess of the off-brands it is here I post more often then on the Kubota or NH boards......

OK, I misinterpreted -- Sorry.

On another line,
What color were the original tractors made by the company that JD bought and founded it's tractor line on? I can't think of the name right now -- Water somthing maybe?

I think it was it Waterloo Boy? Or something like that. Not sure on the colors.

I always thought Deere started into tractors by buying the Waterloo. Turns out their first one was the AWD (All Wheel Drive) which was, of course, way high tech, for the time. Problem was, it was too expensive (imagine that) so they found a cheaper machine they could put their name on and bought Waterloo. At this point, they were still not sold on tractors, as plows behind horses was still the way for farmers.
