I got a pair of uninsulated Herman Survivors from Walmart about 3 years ago for $39. They are great boots, waterproof and still do fine for summer boots. There is a Walmart about 20 miles from here, I may check them out as well.

I like Red Wings. The pair that I have now is 10 years old and they are still comfortable and waterproof (wear them mostly on weekends). They have held up well, had them re-souled a couple of years ago. I wear them winter and summer. I'm not sure whether they are insulated but they are fairly warm. They have some kind of lining in them.

My boot search is over! I have an order on the way from Cabelas. I ordered a pair of Rocky ATV hunting boots. I got the black ones, I can use these when I ride my dual sport motorcycle also. All for $90 plus I get a $20 coupon.

Details: 1,000-denier Cordura® nylon, 600-gram Thinsulate Ultra Insulation for extra warmth without bulk. These boots are equipped with shin, ankle and shifter guards for protection. The gusseted construction has a Velcro® wrap-around system. Rocky's® guaranteed waterproof construction keeps out snow and rain, and the sport utility rubber outsole has a low-profile heel and a shallow lug pattern for off-bike treks, Height: 14". Don't overlook the plain old rubber go-loshes.

Developed foot problems years ago and could only find one shoe that I could stand being in. Gave up trying to find boots.
I am still wearing this same model low cut shoe, year around, no matter if it is 90, or 32 degrees below the donut. (Night before last) I own a pair of rubbers, a pair of 10 inch, and a pair of knee high go-loshes. (Rubber overshoes)
If I am going to be out but still - on tractor etc, I make sure that all is dry before starting. But normally I am moving all day long. The boots do not breath and If I stop too long it results in cold feet. I Take them off and change socks, or in extreme temps. where stopping = getting cold anyway, I will just keep working.
Any way it works for me. Even wearing them everyday during the winter, I get 1 -2 years out of them.

Sherpa,

Great find on those "multi-tasking" boots. They look like just the right ticket for your activities. Let us know how you like 'em after you try 'em.

Have you ever tried Ku****ani boots for road bike riding? They are spectacular.

so much depends on what you want to do in the boots, lots of walking, sitting still etc. i use timbrlands for when i am walking and it is not to wet, for sitting or plowing snow or for short walks i like the rubber boots with the removable felt liner. course as i am getting older i don't walk or hunt that much so the felt liner works for me. proper socks (layered) are just as important.
