Winter Project

Been busy rebuilding a older small backhoe I had sitting in the corner of my shed.Having gone though the backhoe I decided to adopt it to use with the P.T. Except for painting, its pretty much done. Everything seems to work, Waiting for the frost to come out of the ground. Spring is slow in coming this year.

I saw your other post about not getting the photo attached to this post. You do not need to start a whole new thread to make a comment about another post. Just hit reply to the original post, which means that you're replying to yourself. By doing it this way, it keeps everything related to the original post in the same thread, which is less confusing.

Thank you for the info. on my thread, I am still on a learning curve in reguards to this forum, Retiring at 55, is what I did .That was 7 very fast years ago, One would think my golf would have picked up, It didnt.

I am building a backhoe from a kit from cdp-backhoe, almost have it finished.

Yes looks like a very nice and extensive job. How much does the hole thing weigh and how well does the PT pick it up and move it around?

The backhoe weight is 500lbs

The PT picks it up okay, It should be curled up to bring the weight close to the machine, J

I noticed from your bio, that you have a Magnatrac. I have an older model Magnatrac, MT-1800 , transaxle, 16 hp .

I don't use it much since I bought the PT.

Which hydraulic circuit did you use for the backhoe?

I use the main hyd circuit, and engage the pto when I want to use the hoe. I dug with it for the first time today, I was pleased with its performance, I have several Magna-Tracs including a MT 1800 With a 6 way dozer, witch I use quite a bit. Want to sell your MT-1800? Jim

Yes, I was planning on selling it, after I got my Pt-1445 all fixed up. It has a scoop and dozer blade. The shipping would be rather steep.

On the backhoe, every thing is welded together. A couple of cylinders are on. I need to figure out if I am going to use a joy stick or electric valves. I have three different buckets for it included a fold up grapple leg. I have also built a separate two piece grapple to replace the buckets. See attachments.

The grapple looks like it would be a very useful attachment,The hoe your building, looks well designed, will make a handy attachment. Have had a number of fellow PT owners pay my project a visit, Leads me to believe that there will be more of these popping up. Jim
