Winter Wonderland?

Afternoon Bird,

I read your post this morning when it was just starting. After lunch, my own paint remover, recipe below, I went back to the shop. When I took a break this is what I found.

A look around to the side to check on the chickens, they were fine.

Now you'd wonder what a man would do in such weather.

Well, I've got a bud. Bud's got a 2002 Dodge utility bed dually. Bud needs a headache rack. He needs something different.

This is the start of something different. If you look close you will see four holes for tail lights. The two slanted are tail--brake. The outside horizontal is going to be hooked to the back up light circuit. The horizontal inside is going to be a cargo light operated from the dash. This is half of a pair. The weight bearing part is two and seven eighths inch, three eighths wall pipe, aluminum. The pair will hold the pipe.

It will be different, only one on this side of town anyways, /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

I forgot the recipe for the paint remover.

Six to ten jalopenas, adjust to taste

1 1/2 lb diced beef, pork, or beef and pork

2 lbs or so of diced potatoes

2 large onions

four to five 1 lb bags of frozen gumbo vegetables

3 cans of ro-tel extra hot

I brown off the meet and half the jalopenas. This I put in a large pot with a couple of quarts of water. Then I put in the onions. After this has boiled for a bit I ad the potatoes. When the potatoes are soft, the meat is tender, and the onions aren't too stiff I add the ro-tel;, frozen veggies and the rest of the jalopenas and then let it cook some more.

The odor will peel paint. The taste is absolutely wonderful. It sounds hot but it's really what we call tastey. And, this is important, like beans gets better over time. And it does stick with you, well sorta.

The down side on this stuff is it's ugly. My wife likes to tell folks I make the best tasting dirty dish water looking stuff she's ever met, she's cajun too.

Beautiful pic of Mt Greylock and the Berkshires. I still say rural New England is one of the best undiscovered secrets in the U.S. Thanks for sharing it.

Neil, certain parts of Texas, particularly the southwest, do have a lot of cactus of several varieties, but I'm guessing that you are talking about the Saguaro cactus that's seen in so many movies, and I don't think there are any in Texas, if so I've never seen them. I think most of those movies were actually filmed in Arizona/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif, especially around Tucson.

And I was wrong about the fender benders the next morning after the snow. It snowed from about 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., then quit and temperature stayed just above freezing, so by the next morning all the streets were clear and dry.

Bird, I've worked for the New York State Dept of Health for over 25 years, and I was a nursing home and hospital inspector for about 20 of those years. I was going to offer you some pointers, but as you usually do, you know exactly what you're doing. If you run into any problems with your mother at the nursing home, let me know. Most of the regulations are federal, so are the same throughout the country.

There are now many excellent nursing homes throughout the country, most states now regulate them closely.
