Power Service is one and easily available at Walmart and other auto parts stores.
I use the white bottle the year around.

1*Add power service
2* 1/2 gallon of kerosene on hand .
3* (I never had to use it since I been using power service).
1*Use White bottle of PS.
Here is the mix or mixes I use.
55 gallon of diesel add 1 quart of PS.
30 gallon of diesel add 16 oz of PS.
5 gallon of diesel add 3 oz of ps.
2*Treat the fuel with PS and forget the Kero.
3*Putting Kero in winter blend is not a good idea because winter blend already has had the kero added to it.
Putting your own kero in the diesel results in to much kero in the diesel .
It's kinda like buying pemixed anti freeze and mixing it half and half with water so you wind up with a dulited product that's harmful to your motor.

1*I found it was much easier to simply treat the fuel when I buy it, no matter the time of year.
1*Also much better .

Should I remove the battery like I would in a gasoline car engine?
I start mine up on the 25th of each month and let them run 15 to 20 minutes?
Would be kinda hard to do with a removed battery dontcha think?:D

Here in drought stricken Central Texas.. I have done everything as folks up north..except a fuel additvie -
1* Should I? Texas winters are light by any standard...Thanks
Yes cause you don't use additives like PS just to combat cold

1*I've never treated my diesel fuel but make sure you don't use summer bought diesel in the cold, cold winter.
1*The only difference between winter and summer blend is the amount of kerosene in the fuel.
All 3 of my of my BXs ran just fine last winter on summer blend.
Summer blend is what I had on hand when winter hit the front door.
I had treated the summer stuff with 1 quart of PS per 55 gallon of diesel and it worked fine all winter long.

1*I always assumed topping off was best but then after reading some unrelated posts that diesel fuel can start to have stuff grow in it etc.
1*Water in the fuel causes that stuff to grow.
Keeping the tank topped off helps reduce water accumliation.
Again there there are additives for combating that stuff also .
