Price Check Won Bid on B3200HST was it a good deal?

$13000 for a new B3200 means something was missing, like maybe the FEL? New is $20,000+ around here. I think you got a great deal. I just bought a 2002 B2710HST with 500 hours for $9500. I did not hesitate to pay another thousand to the dealer for a full service and safety check. They found a few things to fix, not surprising.

Thanks for your response, I really appreciate it. I should have bought a tractor years ago, this web site has encouraged me to take the plunge and buy a good tool and save my old body from physical damage. I enjoy working on mechanical equipment so maintenance won't be a problem. I just hope there isn't something major wrong with this unit. I took a chance, buying it unseen. I'll honestly let you all know if it was a good deal or I bought a lemon.

If you said your location mite could get a fellow TBN member to haul it for you...:D

Oh yeah, this is my 1st tractor and I am pretty exited about it. I live in Rescue CA, Northern Calif. I have a couple of possible people who will help me out in hauling it, but I won't see them until Monday. I appreciate the offer of help. This is a great group of guys. Thanks

If all else fails, you could always just drive it.

if the tractor doesn't have anything wrong with it, you got a great deal. i am looking at a b3300su (same tractor about, just tweeked for hp and no mid pto) and list price is about $19,000. dealer deal to me is $16,280 with fel because i do all my business with them and i think they are a pretty good dealer. the b3200 should be about $1,000 more then the b3300su because it has the mid pto option. so that puts it in the $20,000 range. you got it for $12,600 with 400 hr on it. so after 400hr change & shipping, figure you saved around $4,000- $6,000! my b7800 has over 800 hr on it and no major problems what so ever. (only had 2 minor problems since new and dealer fixed) i don't abuse mine, but i do work it hard. hope yours works as expected and you enjoy it. kubota makes great equipment and the tractor should last you for many years.

Thank you all for your info and encouragement. I paid for and saw the tractor today. It does have a few flaws--someone screwed up the ignition switch so I'll have to replace that, the left headlight plastic is broken, it looks like some turf in there. Other than that it started right up and sounds good to me. It just needs a little TLC. I am pleased with it and will bring it home tomorrow with the help of a Uhaul trailer and a friends truck. Now I have to find out where to buy the manual filters, fluids etc. for the 400 hr. maintenance. I'm sure I'll find that out from this forum. Thanks to all of you!

One place for fluids filters and manuals:

Kubota B3200HSD Parts

You don't have a Kubota dealer in your area?

I get most of my stuff from the dealer, but sometimes filters and oil from our local auto parts stores.

I learned a long time ago, once you buy, stop shopping and stop comparing prices. It almost always leads to frustration.

Congrats on your new tractor. :)

Per my late father you will always find an interesting option after making any purchase if you keep looking.

Will be interested in a follow up posting.

I have a couple of possible people who will help me out in hauling it, but I won't see them until Monday.

So, I guess you are picking it up in Sacto?

I have had bad luck with the roll-back tow companies in the bay area,
in terms of sticking with their bid and showing up as agreed. The last
time I moved a tractor (last summer) we got the regular delivery guy
for a local tractor dealer to do the work. It was reasonable and he
was insured. Being insured is very important, so I don't use uninsured
towers (like friends). Good luck.

<snip> the left headlight plastic is broken, it looks like some turf in there. <snip>

How does one get turf in the headlight?
Roll the tractor.

Check all the fluids and drive it home, in high it should only take about 2.5 hrs.

Could have run over stick that had grass dirt on end of it and front tire kicked up into light(lots of different things)(my kids could of easly threw something at it:D).

But it is always a good idea to check fluids....

It may have a FEL that was the dirt source. I have had popping roots throw dirt at me.

There would be pretty clear signs of a roll-over, but plenty of other ways for dirt to get in there.

None the less, an fluid change is an excellent idea. I've got a new tractor traveling from Montana to Michigan right now, and although the anticipation is killing me, first thing I'll do is change the fluids.

As for me, I wouldn't be able to stand going 15MPH down the side of the road holding up traffic for 12 miles and having cars blare their horns at me and flip me the bird, and especially depending on the weather, but it would be fun. About the farthest I'll travel on a road is 2 miles tops, that's just me though.

Hello all, I got the beast home last night. That was an adventure as the trailer I picked to rent was barely big enough and the tie down points weren't positioned well. I got on the freeway about 1/4 to 5 and the traffic was at a crawl for most of the 35 miles, lots of idiots playing bumper cars that evening. Today I unloaded it and did some maintenance and looked harder at it. The hood had scratched paint underneath the auction number sticker--need paint. The little dip stick for the hydro-fluid is dry. Stickers on the tractor show it was a rental bought in Georgia and rented out in Texas. It looks like most of the work it did was at the rear PTO. This is going to take some time to get in shape. 1'st thing to do is order the manuals. As I said before, this is my 1st tractor. I'm sure there is a lot to learn and It will be fun. By the way I'm sure the tractor hasn't been rolled, someone just must have broken the left headlight by jamming it into a hillside or something without the FEL on the machine. Kubota lists 2 different versions of this tractor, depending on which deck it has. How do you tell which deck it has. I can find the serial/model number and engine model and type but don't know how to tell which deck mode it has. Are the manuals the same for both types of tractors.
Thanks for all your encouragement.

That is one stout looking FEL. Our old 1983 JD 310 was a rental at one point. While it has a lot of pin wear I have worked it hard all day long without any real issues. It was so soild I bought tires all way around.

Personally I would not worry about making it look like new. People with new tractors may loose sleep over things that can never happen to yours for the first time any longer.
