I've been looking for a tractor for about 3months and been lurking on this forum as long. This morning I bid online for a 2010 B3200HST tractor with 383hrs on the meter with the factory FEL. I bid $10500 and surprisingly won, Tax and auction fees make the price about $12,600. The thing hardly has any paint scratched off the bucket. If it is as good as I hope it is--is this a good deal??

Thanks for your input,
tad84pole

I won't call it a bad deal .. lets just say I went a different route.

You have a used tractor that is almost ready for the 400 hour service which means all new filters and a complete change out all oil. Somehow or other you have to come up with $12,600. If you finance that amount you are looking at in excess of (and I'm guessing) $275 per month. You are out of the warranty period unless the owner purchased an extended warranty.

I recently purchased a new B3200 for $13,600 for $0 down and 0% interest for 60 months. I added a rear remote, dealer installed, and pay $312 a month.

I suggest you contact Kubota to see if you are eligible for an extended warranty or the KATC insurance. The insurance is cheap, the warranty not so much.

Having said that, you will love the B3200HST. It is powerful, has a very comfortable drivers station. It has a mid PTO so you can add a mid mount mower, front snow blower, etc. The loader is impressive as is the 3 point lift. Mine is 4 cyl and I have not noticed engine vibration at high rpms as some have reported. You might check that. The 3 point on mine is smooth both up and down.

One thing I have noticed is that when using the front loader I tend to push the 3 point lever into the down position. That causes a problem when I have my tiller attached for ballast, and you will need ballast in the rear. I have learned to use the knob below the seat to just close the 3 point valve. That just holds the 3 point in the position it is in at that time.

Good luck with the new purchase. It will easily fit on a tandem axle car hauler.
Cheers!

Beware of Jerky 3-point hitch sickness.:ashamed:

That is only on the L, not Grand L.

Sounds like a pretty good deal and as to the 400 hour service, it is expensive, but easy to save money by doing it yourself. It is shown in the manual and this might help:Kubota L-40 Series Service

Well, I think ya did pretty good, saved 3k+. But if I were going to finance I would go to the dealer and buy brand new with 0%.

I however don't like to finance stuff, paid cash and and saved 4k on my L3800 with only 14 hrs on the meter. :D

Enjoy your new tractor!

Thanks for all the information and encouragement. I'll change all the fluids and filters and post a picture as soon as I can. Right now I'm getting bids from "UShip"carriers to set up to get it home next week. I'll probably go with a regular tow company with a flat bed. I've gotten bids from people with pickup trucks with trailers. RVs with trailers, cars with trailer, Semi-track trailer rigs crossing the country. prices from close to $400 down to $160. This thing is smaller than my Crown Vic. I don't really see it as "Heavy Equipment" Thanks, Ill be looking for a box scrapper in the future.

Yes go through tractor and replace all fluids and filters, grease all fittings, power wash tractor and take good polish to it and wax it up good. That unit should be only just broke in and should last of years. I think that you got a good deal new 2011 locally was 20k.

Thanks for your response, I really appreciate it. I should have bought a tractor years ago, this web site has encouraged me to take the plunge and buy a good tool and save my old body from physical damage. I enjoy working on mechanical equipment so maintenance won't be a problem. I just hope there isn't something major wrong with this unit. I took a chance, buying it unseen. I'll honestly let you all know if it was a good deal or I bought a lemon.
