My own cholesterol tests show very high levels of cholesterol, and low levels of triglycerides, a very good combination, imo. If you have higher levels of cholesterol AND high triglycerides that is not a good combination.
My doctor, who admits she is still learning after many decades in the medical field, tried to get me on a statin...once. I had her send me for a test that determines the amount of calcium laid down in the arteries of the heart, I think it's called a CAC. When she looked at the results she told me to keep doing what I'm doing because it is working well.
I don't overeat, I cook all my own food, and eat a ton of saturated fat. My body uses it for energy; I am very active, I don't gain weight easily, carry a lot of muscle (calorie-burners) and I am 55. If you are inactive, overweight and eat like I do don't expect the same results.
All this to say...ribs aren't bad for you, in all probability, unless you are an obese couch potato.
