WOOD CHIPPING FOR OTHERS...HOW MUCH TO CHARGE ?

/ WOOD CHIPPING FOR OTHERS...HOW MUCH TO CHARGE ? #21
I've wondered the same only with a snow thrower. I won't take any money because I don't want to feel like I'm obliged to help next time. But what happens if I hit their car, for example?

Then they get to shovel their driveway the next time?

IMHO, it kind of depends on whether you were negligent, or just an accident. And how bad the damage is. My not accepting payment for things like that leaves a lot of room for negotiation. If you are taking payment, you are pretty much responsible.

I'd suggest being careful either way and have them move their cars out of the way of the plow or don't get that close.

I do a considerable amount of plowing for "free", but chipping is different because of the knives. Wear and tear on a plow is minimal, but you WILL have a sharpening expense and replacement sooner or later. Charge at least enough to cover the sharpening time & expense or work out a trade.
