Wood splitter

The log splitter could also be turned sideways and cut up to 3 in trees

I've been wanting to do a wood splitter too. The one I'd like is like this one

I'm curious as to why you selected the PTO for powering the splitter. Does the aux circuit not have sufficient power?

I have fastened the controls temporally to the PT with C clamps and used it on some tough oak cuts of wood. It is working rather well. With a little more time and practice I am sure it will do even better. When I say 90 percent done I mean I need make a mount that can be easily taken off and on the pt. For the controls that is. I also need to paint it.
When I demoed it to Dad I lifted (with the upside down splitter) a large cut of Oak, moved it to another location, and split it into about 8 different pieces. All without getting off of the tractor. My guess is that when I have split a large amount of wood, it laying all over the yard, I will get the bucket, pick it up and take it to the wood pile.

Da gone pairodime looks so close to the one I built it ant funny. Guess it don't take a genius to turn a log splitter upside down.

If you are talking about the one that operates the quick attach locks. Yes it would work but I am sure it would be much slower. My cycle time (all the way up and all the way back) is less than 10 seconds. That is much faster than i thought it would be even using the PTO.

When are we going to see some pics of your work?

Sure but I was waiting till I got the permanent mounts on. The C Clamps and long angle iron looks shabby. Not to mention it needs painting.

Hay Guys I have pretty much finished the wood splitter. I will go ahead and post some pics and after I paint it I try to get some of it working. Use your imagination and figure all the things you could do with it. I have used it and it works fine doing all these things. But I don’t know if we should call it a wood splitter or not. It is also a wood carrier or wood mover or wood loader. What would be a good name for it?
