Here is the modification I promised. I have already tried it out and as some of you all said, when splitting small stuff it is better to have the splitter in the upright mode. There is enough hose link that the controls can be mounted close to the wood in the up right operation.

A pic of the splitter being operated in the upright mode. I still need to mount the control mount holder. But for now this will do.

Looks like you have the best of both worlds now. Looks like a good heavy duty accessory that may well pay for itself in a season or two to the extent you can heat with wood and save on the high price of your hydrocarbon fuel alternative.

Nice job!

That's pretty nice and a typical Stray good idea. Much stronger and just as easy to rotate as the square pipe idea I was thinking of!

How come everyone else is so smart? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Can you put a "T" type of pipe fitting on the side, where each side of the top of the "T" can be used to slide the pipe support for the controls depending on the orientation? So, the controls mounted on a pipe slides over the "T". The "T" is oriented so that it extends out from the side of the beam and the top points up and down. Then just put a connecting pin in the pipe to hold the controls in place?

As soon as I get this done I'll post a pic. The angle of the handle (when mounted to the beam) will seem strange but when I tried it out in that position it seemed to feel OK.

Another neat idea brought to reality. Great job, Stray.

Thanks again Guys!
I didn't take time turn the splitter in the up right position for a pic but I will later on. This pic will be the upside down storage position. If the splitter is turned the other way one would just slip the control into the square mount, from the other direction, plug the hoses into the tractor and away we go.

Here is a pic of the controls. Like I said it looks odd the way they are mounted but it does seem to work well. They just slide in, to the point where you see the stop.
