Woods 1006 will not float

CharlieR, I got an email from Woods on this topic the other day, it's on my laptop in the office and I'll paste it here tomorrow. He says it has a float but you gotta make it go there (it takes a push). I was messing with mine today and couldn't tell it was floating...

Thanks for that - but - if I push any harder I'll bend something (or that's how it feels).
Eyeballing the extension on the spool versus the cap that goes over it, I'd say the end of the spool hits the inside end of the cap by design.
I didn't measure anything but placed the cap beside the spool for comparison.
I'd love to see a drawing of the parts.

There was a solution but I forgot to post it.
I had my tractor in for service (rim leaking ballast) and asked them to check out the lack of a float position.
They installed a shim to increase the stroke and now it works.
It didn't even cost me anything to fix it!
