Woods BB840. How to reset or fix blade

Hi all

Hit a chunk of iron tonight. The cutter stopped fast. I shut down pto. Pulled iron out and noticed one of the two blades was moved out of way and stopped over the round disk blades bolted to; moved about 60 degrees and out of cutting path. Looked in the manual and got no idea what to do. I don't know if the blade is spring loaded, sheer pinned or just broke. I'm guessing it is on a hinge or spring. How would I move blade back to home base? I haven't started cutter back up yet. I sliced my leg on iron after trying to fling the iron onto my junk pile. I thought I'd call it a night.

Hmmm....sounds like the blade is doing what it's supposed to do. I don't know that rotary but with my bushhog, the blades are hinged in the center and rotate out with centripital force when the rotary spins up. Do you have a picture?

The blades rotate freely about the pin. Your blade is probably either slightly bent from the contact, or more likely has some grass/junk pinning it there. Get a long pole or a shovel and whack it out. Just hit the back side of the blade!

If it bent and won't freely rotate, you should buy a new blade. They have a VERY specific heat treatment and shouldn't be bent back. Some people do take them off and give em a few whacks with a sledge hammer, but it is not recommended - even though it works 99.9% of the time. The other 0.1% of the time, the blade snaps in two in use and sends the other half flying out to cause mayhem, mischief and possible death. Your call.
