Most Silverados are built in Oshawa Ontario. If you thought Windsor Ontario, it is actually south of Detroit, believe it or not.

Yeah, for some reason, the Canadians seem to want to huddle up close to us Yanks! Protection? Naw, they pretty much outlawed guns so no crime. Medical care? Naw, they have gov'mt medical care, don't need our over priced care. Warmth? Maybe, but with "global warming" they will all soon be buying beach front land on the north edge of Hudson Bay ! Better enjoy those Northern Neighbors while you can, soon they will be moving aways north where it's cooler...

I couldn't find the listing either but I'd guess that what is going on is that Woods sold the building to an investment group to raise cash(or lower debt) and will turn around and lease it back. It is very common for companies to lease the buildings instead of owning them. If that is the case Woods has not sold as a company. If Welch Queenland was a big enough company to buy Woods equipment there would be a stock quote for them and I could not find one or the name of the company on google, yahoo, msn, or the wall street journal. In fact it may be a dummy corperation to hold the building that Woods controls so that they may be leasing the building from themselves.
All in all I don't think I would worry about it.

And does anyone know if Welch Queenland is a European company or maybe a Canadian company? I would sooner believe it is a Canadian company buying the building for what ever reason.

I never found a stock quote in the international listings for them. That doesn't mean they don't exist but I think they would have had a stock quote if it was an major equipment company. That's the reason for my guess of and investment group of some type. From what I understand leasing the facility has more tax benefits than purchasing in many instances.

I know that my 1996 silverado was built in canada, good job people, that truck was well built! My new paperwork indicates that this truck was built in pontiac michigan, perhaps the diesels are built here?

John Deere may have a combine being built in China but the 70 series combines you see all over the US are built here in the US.

Robert--Thanks..you are correct--70 series made in USA.
I don't know much about combines but was startled by the photo of the Chinese combine. It's on the current month of Feb 2008 offical John Deere calendar. Apparently they make the older series in China. Here are the models and how to see on the JD website.
