The Chevy truck is assembled here, but from mostly overseas parts.

The Honda is more American than any Chevy car or truck, if you think that's worth worrying about...


This is a global economy. I have a background in outsourcing, most of the Chinese-made products that are junk, are because they were spec'd and designed by Americans who import those products. Properly designed and tested, and spec'd products made overseas, are no worse than anything made here. The UAW (and it's mentality) killed our manufacturing in this country, but we still are the dominant designers/engineers.

For what it's worth, the Silverado is a very popular truck, it is built in 3 factories, one in Ontario, one in Flint, and one in Wisconsin. The engine is built either in the US or canada, The diesel is built in the DMAX plant in Ohio. The truck is probably 95% North American. The electronics are generally overseas or Mexico. Romulus engine builds the 5.3L and the 6.2L engines. The canucks are building the 6.0 & ??? The transmission is built in Indiana. Gm builds the most US content vehicles. 85% average. Last year, Toyota imported over 1 million vehicles. I don't know what Honda imported, but i know they are the best of the asian players, as far as US content. GM also has more cars that get 30 mpg than anybody else, but apparently no media types care.

My Grandad died at 101... last time I talked to him he asked if I drove from the Philippines...Nope... Boeing all the way.... Guess I grounded now... MD or Airbus must fill the voild.

Not even close. 85% domestic content in GM products. 32% domestic across Honda line. That (sing-song whiny voice) "Honda is more American than GM" BS is just that BS. They may have one vehicle in the line up that has one variant with more domestic content. maybe.

I should say my dad did put in 40 years at a GM plant (he didnt see retirement) but my mom is living a decent life because of it. The UAW is good for the workers but...

Honda made in Ohio... yes, accords are made there (but how about the element, fit, crv, and the entire acura lot?)....And 100% of the profits go overseas no matter where it's made. Yep, it's a global economy... and so many people relish in the fact that we're giving away good ole' USA. Everyone agrees that dependency on foreign oil isn't a good thing... why do we want to depend on other nations for our industry, our food, and our workforce?

In Canada I can pick up a can of apple juice or a package of frozen mixed vegetables both marked "Product of Canada" in big bold letters and believe it or not but the juice concentrate and vegetables are from China. All one must do is package it in Canada and it becomes a "Product of Canada". Sickening ...
