Hey Scott... I get a lot of comments on the flag tags!scott_vt said:Good Evenin mj,

They make larger sizes in some models, I would ask the store if any can be ordered. I especially like Red Wing because most of their products are still made in the USA (it was ALL until just a few years ago, sigh) and you get some nice service including free cleaning and laces for the life of the boots. Also, in my limited personal experience their dealers are better than the average shoe store.

I don't know of anything wrong with any brand you list. Another option would be US Army combat boots, the 80's through late 90's style, made by several companies including Altama. I find they fit great and are made in any possible size, including unbelievably huge. I would look at the websites of Altama and Belleville Shoe Company (I'm not sure if Belleville still makes the style I'm referring to, though).
I would not get steel toed boots. They are often very uncomfortable. They DO make sense if you are working in an industrial environment like a machine shop, underground mining, etc. I do not wear any for tractoring and have never missed them. But I suppose if you are extremely clumsy they might make sense.

I also agree with Robert on not buying off the internet. I have a hard time finding good fittting boots and usually spend quite a bit of time trying on pair after pair. I bought these boots at Raven Rock Workwear in Erie, PA. BTW It came down to a choice between these and very nice pair of Wolverines in the same price range and the Chippewas won! My wife was glad the whole process only took around 45 minutes instead of the usual couple of hours!
PS I also own a pair of Redwings that are also a very good boot but in need of new soles.

If you have never been to Stagecoach West you should stop in before you buy your next pair of boots. They are located on Rt 5 & 20 in Irving just before you enter the Reservation (its about 1.5 hours from Warren). They recently expanded their boot selection and even though I don't need a pair of boots right now I look anyway as they reduce boots from time to time to clear inventory and I have got some great deals over the years when I find boots that fit me right.
