People tend to get all wrapped up about Diesel. Oh my God, what if the fuel gels?? Oh my God, aren't they hard to start in cold weather?? Oh my God, where will I buy fuel?? Oh my God, how will I keep my fuel clean enough to run without problems??

Try running dirty gas...

If the Crude Oil people hadn't lobbied Congress to put strict restrictions against Diesel this country would be running on it. Like our not running primarily Diesel engines is going to save the Planet?? China will dump more emissions into the atmosphere this week than we will this year.....

EFI has brought gas engines into the 21st Century. Bout time. Diesel has always been controlled injection, mechanical or electronic. A Carb is sooooo 20th Century.... :)

You forgot one, (Oh my God diesel cost more then gas), That was my complaint a few years ago,$4.30/gal. Just got some off-road fuel today, $2.15-9,/gal. now I say, oh my God that price is a lot better then it was a few years ago.

I have nothing against diesel, as I go thru about 21,000 gallons of the stuff per year. I like the JD 825i gasser. As opposed to the diesel fuel costs more, it will gel, whatever arguments, I just don't have a bias one way or the other. I just don't see any UTV with a diesel in it that impresses me from a cost benefit ratio standpoint. At least not enough to pay more for it. And the engine is just one of the main features. There are many things that make a great working UTV. Each UTV has its own particular issues, and there is none of them that are perfect in every way. And one thing that one needs to also consider... what it available down the road that will work on your UTV to do something new that you need done.

Hmmmmm.. Is your fuel gelling or are you having moisture problems???

I use Power Service (white bottle) beginning in the Fall when the weather starts cooling off and quitting in the Spring when it stays warm. I never have Gel problems. I change my filters once a year on the tractors and twice a year on my truck and fuel transfer tank. I use quit a bit of fuel so never am running old fuel. Also never have it in storage long enough for moisture to collect. I've never had moisture that caused a failure. It's been 25 years since I had Gel problems and that was my fault.

Good question....I do the same thing each time.....pour in the diesel 911...swap filters....run it for awhile....swap the filters again. I keep "fresh" fuel..meaning I keep no more than 5 gallons on hand that is purchased in the early winter. During the summer/fall months I run my fuel down to a 1/4 tank or less then I pour the 5 gallons I just bought in the tank. The magic number seems to be about 10 below zero or colder. I also have an old International 2544 that starts regardless of temp.....I've fired it up at 20 below to clear a massive storm several years back....gas engines work better for me than diesels but the machines are all stored outdoors

I always put Seafoam in every motorized tool i own, never had a problem, normally windup using them year round, the blower get's a break in the winter, the weedeater get's a blade for fence cleaning, tractor, mower & saws will be started once a month year round or more depending on use. Here's a couple of Gator pics.

Sounds like Gelling. You didn't mention what you use for treatment to control Gelling in your Diesel fuel??

I'd be just like you. If my gas tractor was the one I could count on I'd prefer it as well.

My mom lives on and still operates a small farm in Alberts . I have always made sure she has a good quad and always thought that my latest purchase would be my last . That was 3 ATV’s ago . The last one was a Kubota gas side x side . Last year see complained that it wasn’t running right so I took a look .It turned out that a plug was fouled and it was burning raw gas in the muffler . I looked at the meter and after 2 years it had 765 hours . She is 85 and uses it every day winter and summer . Good machine.

Funny how people talk about the price of fuel and are always suggesting one additive or another but no one ever balks about the price of these (high priced) additives. Plus the cost to get them or even find them and then the tax.

Good for her.

The machine would probably benefit from a wide open blast down the road and back for a few minutes, couple times a year. :)
