does anyone have or has seen the worksaver grapple for cuts? its a 60in made for lighter tractors of 40hp or less. i've been in the market for a grapple and still can't make up my mind. the worksaver caught my eye at the farm show and it looks like it may work for my uses. just was looking for some other thoughts b4 i may purchase.

did you get a price for the unit? the specs sure look good on the unit 60 wide and under 400 pounds!

Jim,

I have a few questions...first being what is the price you were quoted? Secondly, what does a 48" weigh, and will that do the job for you?

I have a Bradco 48'' for my 45 hp CUT, and originally ordered a 72''. The 48 came in, they let me "use" it until the big one came, but I found that it was very maneuverable, strong, and didn't limit my loader as much as the larger/heavier model. I suppose it depends on the use, but after using the smaller grapple, I really like it. Food for thought...

i plan to use it for gathering up brush and other junk as i'm clearing out old pastures. also may use it for some light forestry use. the 60 in should be more than sufficient in manuverability as that is the same size bucket my jd790 has, and i'm able to go through the woods, and other fairly tight places ok w/ it. i haven't got a price yet, as i had just got all the info on it the other day from their distributor, i will probably head over to the jd dealer tomorrow. i like this grapple for the weight factor only about 360lbs and they make an optional attachment to fit my loader directly.plus after seeing it 1st hand it looks like it will hold up well. kubotasrking what did you pay for the bradco? i've looked at them and they were one of my choices. i can get a good deal on one out of my area, but the shipping is a killer.

I agree with kubotasrking that a 48" grapple is a very useful size. You don't really gain much from a larger grapple other than higher cost and more weight that actually cuts your load lift capability.

do you guys run a single spool remote near the loader remote or do you tie the grapple hydraulics back to say a 3 spool remote near the rear of the tractor? It seems it would be better located near the loader remote but wanted to get "real use" input from those that have done it. i am adding a rear remote for top/tilt off the 3pt and plan to add a lightweight thumb/grapple to my existing bucket. thanks for the ideas..

cheers,
bigballer

farmerjim- I have the split top Worksaver grappler on a JD5325. I'm extremely pleased with this grappler but it is heavier than I expected which works fine for the size tractor I have. Double check the weight to make sure it is within your operating weight envelope. As far as width that is really up to your needs.
