Today we drove 450 miles round trip to visit Snowshoe ski resort [ in West VA] where there is a 24 hour mountain bike event going on...had some time to think about the loader on a BX...and no opportunity to check in on TBN /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif until now...
shoppintractors, I think your are right and will forget the loader on the bx if I end up getting a bx...
Frank f15, you are right, of course. But the one place the RFM is not the greatest is cutting around the edge of my pond. Since the front wheels are moving left, the rfm moves away from the pond edge...and the 60" size does not overhang that much past the rear wheels...I think a MMM would be better, as long as it stuck out beyond the wheels a bit.
NY_Yankees_Fan, I have a backhoe for my
B2910 so I don't need another...like the bigger one better anyway...would even like to have a bigger one than that...whoops, I'm not going there...I'll forget I said that!
EldoNixon , Do you live by Rick Jay by chance?
JDGREEN4ME, I concluded the loader is history. But I rationalize the second tractor this way. Less wear and tear on the larger one, as well as less wear and tear on the smaller one, as they would be used for different things at different times. At 56, I expect they would last me the rest of my days...I don't hunt and I don't play golf, and I don't have season sports tickets...so I can justify the extra tractor as a pleasure expense [in my mind, if you know what I mean]...
OkeeDon, I don't think the loader on the bx is strong enough to lift much...better just use the palet forks I have and the
B2910 loader for chores like that...
Mrwurm, once I adopt I never give the adoptee up for adoption to another...I know, never say never...but we are talking tractors here!
Robert_in_NY, I won't get the loader... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
kubotasaurus, One thing I will NEVER do is loan my tractor
to anyone. When it comes to the tractor I have no friends...
bobobro, that is a good point. I had kind of thought about that, and about possibly my wife using the smaller tractor and loader...but I think I will defer the loader for the future, if ever. My B2910 bucket is 54 inches wide, not much more than the 48" of the bx, if I remember right. I can always add a loader later, but it would be a shame to pay for one and then not use it...much...
shoppintractors, guess you are no longer my "voice of reason..." /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
DieselD, Spencer has the pole barn...I just have a shed... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Thanks for all the great input guys! When I was younger I used to think I was smart enough to do things right without asking anyone. Now I like to ask and get as much input as possible before deciding. Learned over the years that in the end the result is better that way.
I really appreciate the input. IF I end up buying a bx, it will not have a loader. It will strictly be the bx and the widest MMM that goes on it [60"]. I will not gain any mowing width, but I don't need more anyway. I want the shorter lenght and the ability to mow the pond edge better. As well as along a fence row easier.
In the end it all depends on what the dealer will give me for the woods RD6000 RFM. It is less than a year old, has been under cover since early last fall, and only had probably 3 hours of use on it. It was dry last fall and the grass did not grow much...
I'm planning on stopping by the dealer's on Monday and seeing what he thinks. I am hoping he will believe that selling a 2nd tractor to someone who doesn't need it [at a good price for me] is better than not selling me a 2nd tractor. I would like to think that selling tractors is desirable to the dealer, and if he believes that I don't need it, but will buy it if he prices it right, that he will price it right.
And I believe I don't NEED it, so I will not act if the price is not what I think is pretty good.
We'll see what happens...
