Don't get the loader on the second tractor. You will be disappointed since you are use to the larger tractors loader and being able to lift more you will just waste your money on another loader. I have a TN 65 with loader that I use all the time, I just got a deal on a Ford 1920 with 7308 loader and I don't mind the tractor (it serves its purpose) but dispise the loader. That said I do use the loader from time to time since I have the forks on the TN and don't feel like changing back and forth. But the biggest difference is I can pick the 1920 up with the TN and the 1920 can't even pick itself up /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif The most I use the loader for on the 1920 is for a front weight and for carrying a few tools or concrete if I am helping someone set poles.

Perhaps one risk is that if you get a loader on the BX then you will get tons of requests from friends and acquaintances to borrow the "little tractor" for the weekend. May be counter-productive!

What jobs do you have now or may have in the future where a smaller loader on a lighter tractor might come in handy?

I’ll give you 2 examples in my case.

Example #1 - My neighbor owns a L3000, I bought a B7500 recently. I borrowed his 3000 (before I had my tractor) to move my annual 12 yards of mulch delivery from the driveway to the landscape beds. It worked but was hard to get in the tighter spots and also started to put ruts in the yard from the ag tires and weight of the tractor. The 7500 with loader is going to work much better for that job next time because of it’s smaller size and lighter weight.

Example #2 – Same neighbor just had a barn built, he needs to fill in the stalls with dirt (and probably remove manure in the future). Guess who wants me to help him because his tractor is too big to maneuver in the barn and use the loader in the stalls, where mine looks like it was just what the doctor ordered for the job.

So point being you may run into some projects where the smaller loader/lighter tractor might be the tool for the job. If you are going to buy the BX, get the loader, I’m sure you will find jobs for it and it if you don’t get it you will be wishing you had.

How about buying the BX with a loader, then selling the B2910 and moving up to the Grand L Series Tractors? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
That will give you the best of both worlds..... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Get the BX with the FEL. 48" is perfect size for walkways and grading for pavers down to the polebarn.

Today we drove 450 miles round trip to visit Snowshoe ski resort [ in West VA] where there is a 24 hour mountain bike event going on...had some time to think about the loader on a BX...and no opportunity to check in on TBN /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif until now...

shoppintractors, I think your are right and will forget the loader on the bx if I end up getting a bx...

Frank f15, you are right, of course. But the one place the RFM is not the greatest is cutting around the edge of my pond. Since the front wheels are moving left, the rfm moves away from the pond edge...and the 60" size does not overhang that much past the rear wheels...I think a MMM would be better, as long as it stuck out beyond the wheels a bit.

NY_Yankees_Fan, I have a backhoe for my B2910 so I don't need another...like the bigger one better anyway...would even like to have a bigger one than that...whoops, I'm not going there...I'll forget I said that!

EldoNixon , Do you live by Rick Jay by chance?

JDGREEN4ME, I concluded the loader is history. But I rationalize the second tractor this way. Less wear and tear on the larger one, as well as less wear and tear on the smaller one, as they would be used for different things at different times. At 56, I expect they would last me the rest of my days...I don't hunt and I don't play golf, and I don't have season sports tickets...so I can justify the extra tractor as a pleasure expense [in my mind, if you know what I mean]...

OkeeDon, I don't think the loader on the bx is strong enough to lift much...better just use the palet forks I have and the B2910 loader for chores like that...

Mrwurm, once I adopt I never give the adoptee up for adoption to another...I know, never say never...but we are talking tractors here!

Robert_in_NY, I won't get the loader... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

kubotasaurus, One thing I will NEVER do is loan my tractor to anyone. When it comes to the tractor I have no friends...

bobobro, that is a good point. I had kind of thought about that, and about possibly my wife using the smaller tractor and loader...but I think I will defer the loader for the future, if ever. My B2910 bucket is 54 inches wide, not much more than the 48" of the bx, if I remember right. I can always add a loader later, but it would be a shame to pay for one and then not use it...much...

shoppintractors, guess you are no longer my "voice of reason..." /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

DieselD, Spencer has the pole barn...I just have a shed... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Thanks for all the great input guys! When I was younger I used to think I was smart enough to do things right without asking anyone. Now I like to ask and get as much input as possible before deciding. Learned over the years that in the end the result is better that way.

I really appreciate the input. IF I end up buying a bx, it will not have a loader. It will strictly be the bx and the widest MMM that goes on it [60"]. I will not gain any mowing width, but I don't need more anyway. I want the shorter lenght and the ability to mow the pond edge better. As well as along a fence row easier.

In the end it all depends on what the dealer will give me for the woods RD6000 RFM. It is less than a year old, has been under cover since early last fall, and only had probably 3 hours of use on it. It was dry last fall and the grass did not grow much...

I'm planning on stopping by the dealer's on Monday and seeing what he thinks. I am hoping he will believe that selling a 2nd tractor to someone who doesn't need it [at a good price for me] is better than not selling me a 2nd tractor. I would like to think that selling tractors is desirable to the dealer, and if he believes that I don't need it, but will buy it if he prices it right, that he will price it right.

And I believe I don't NEED it, so I will not act if the price is not what I think is pretty good.

We'll see what happens...

I brush hogged the front of the property today. Wide open spaces, not too many trees. Thought to my self "Need bigger tractor".

I brush hogged the back of my property today. Lots of trees with low limbs. Can't get get where I want to be, limbs tangling up with canopy. Thought to myself "Need smaller tractor".....

I agree. I wouldn't get the extra loader. Having more than one tractor is really nice. If one gets stuck the other can pull it out.

Wouldn't it be nice if all us tractor nuts could afford to have a utility/ag tractor, sub compact, skid steer, excavator, bull dozer, new diesel truck, gooseneck trailer, dump truck and trailer, and any needed attachments. Plus about an 80*100 ft shop with a lift to put them in. That would cover most our needs.

Personally I have to justify these things. I certainly can't afford this wish list. But having two tractors to do most things is really nice.

On a side note my neighbor doesn't like switching attachments so he started buying a tractor for each attachment. The trouble is this gets expensive fast so the tractors he buys are really old and worn. He has all these tractors on his place but not one really nice one. I just don't have the time to work on worn down tractors so his strategy wouldn't work for me.

I have 2 tractors - an 855 with loader and backhoe, and a 322 L&G. I wouldn't give either up. I use both all the time. I have a mower deck for each - cut with the 855 in the open back, use the 322 in the trees. My 322 doesn't have a loader (wouldn't support one) and frankly never seen a need. However I do use both together all the time. Backhoe in position, excavate directly into the dump trailer, haul away and return. Excavate some more. Also, I can work while the kids cut grass, or whatever.
2 comments. First - build your shed right. I have doors at both ends so I can always drive out without jockeying about. Good Move /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Second - I still wish I had a Front Mount mower for cutting grass so if you think buying the BX will satisfy you forever, it probably won't /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Big Eddy,

Good points! Unfortunately I can't do the drive through shed thing...ground slopes...so I will have to suffer with one sided entry. But that is less suffereing than not having the roof and walls at all!

I've decided if I do buy the bx, I will be happy for eternity, if I ever learn how to spell...I dropped the loader idea. Seems like one is enough, and I can always add it later when the wife forgets the amont of money spent for the bx...say in about two years???

Anyway, the ball is in Kubota's court now. I faxed the credit application to the dealer. If they apporve the zero percent financing...I guess I will be a two tractor owner soon...

Now if I could just get another wife to go along with the new tractor...JUST JOKING! One of them is enough...
