I put an order in for a OBG-72 thru Perrin Farm Equipment in Tifton Ga on Jan 15 and plan to use it on my 3540 HST Mahindra when it shows up.Really looking forward to trying it out but not sure I haven't over loaded my boat after looking at some of the grapple pics posted in this forumThe 3540 weighs 4800 lbs and has a 73 in wheel base so Im thinking it should be OK but having never run a grapple on a compact tractor not sure. What do you think?

What is the loader capacity. The grapple weighs in at 520 lbs. Look in your owners manual what you can lift without rear ballast and go from there. Do you have loaded tires. if not you may need ballast weight to fully use it

Looks like the 35-series loader compares well to the NX-series loader @ 2700 lbs lift. At 520 lbs for the grapple that seems like a pretty good match. If you are moving brush you will be fine, anything heavy like concrete or rocks be sure to put a ~1000lb+ attachment on the back.

Loaded rears help with traction but they do NOT take load off the front axle. Adding a ballast box or heavy attachment behind the rear wheels causes that weight to hinge on the rear axle, which unloads the front axle.

When using the grapple I will have the 50B backhoe installed on the tractor and it has a claimed 1840 lb transport weight.Tractor weight and lift capacities had a lot to do with me buying the 3540 Mahindra.

You should be good. Congrats on the new attachment.

You will absolutely love that grapple! I have the same one in 66" version and wish I went with the 72". I have slightly less lift capacity than you do and have not had a single issue with the weight of a grapple. I ended up adding additional tines at the bottom of the grapple bringing the time spacing from 9" to 4.5"
For an idea of what it can do, check out my picture thread on grapples. There is a link in my signature for it.

I checked out your pics before deciding on what grapple I was going to spend my money on and they had a lot to do with helping me make my decision so thanks Piston.
