X585 X595 Questions

I have an X595 with loader,MMM, & powerflow collection. I was all set to get the 485 w/ the Kawi engine, when my father talked me into the diesel. I'm glad he did. The torqe is better, the fuel economy is better, it is quiet and smooth, and the diesel should last longer than the gas engine. I paid an extra $1000 for the diesel I think, and am certain the diesel will hold its value better, should you decide to sell down the road...By the way...I love my machine, had it 3 years now, and not one problem. I am looking at the new Cab Tractors, and will pull the trigger soon! Let me know if I can offer you more feedback on the X595! Good Luck! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

One of the discussions you're looking for is in the thread entitled "A funny thing happened to my X485 yesterday". Good luck. (If you can't find it via the seach function, click on my alias and the post history.)

I had a 585 for about a year and half - loved it. Dealer had it on his lot as a demo (25 hours on it) and gave me a pretty good deal; never got the chance to look at a 595. Had the 62C MMM, FEL, MC519 cart and collection system. Did alot of dirt work and moving tons of stones with it for a large patio I was building into the side of my sloping yard - never a hiccup with it. My only comment is that it was thirsty, I would burn thru a full tank of gas on a busy Saturday - on a full tank of deisel my 4110 will run all weekend and then some.

I bet you'll enjoy either one.

Shane,

I have had both units and much preferred the diesel. The gas engine was fine, but even with one less hp, the diesel seemed a lot more powerful, and got much better economy. Now, one would have to use the diesel about 10 million hours to allow fuel costs to even out, but that is not the only reason to consider it. There is nothing wrong at all with the Kawasaki engine, so if it fits better in the budget, I would not be concerned. The transmission is strong and will last the life of the machine and then some (i.e. it will not be the first thing to go). My main concern with the X series machines is that the hydraulics are pretty weak for operating a loader, and one cannot use two attachments at once. Say a loader and a box blade, for example. If this does not matter to you then go X. As you may know, the X 700 series will be out soon, but the data sheet on these machines is not much different. The gasoline engines will be either 23 or 27 hp and the diesel will remain 24. Also, resale is a concern. It is true that the 2305 or 2210 would hold value a bit better, but with a 595, it will be close. My 595 brought top dollar on trade in and the dealer sold it within three days after getting it in. He operates where a lot of commercial mowers and large homeowners with lots of property live, so the market there is hot for a top flight GT. Hope this helps you.

Shane,

Like others, I have owned the X585 and now on my second 2210. As for the 585, a wonderful machine and awesome GT, but when I started thinking of more, i.e., attachments, the 585 became an issue; that is, when you add a 3-point, rear PTO, and front end loader (FEL), etc., you end up in many cases with more money than a 2210 or 2305 with less ability. The ability I'm referring to is shear weight, because when a person decides to move items with a FEL you need the machine weight to be as effective as possible and this certainly helps if you try to pull a box blade or any other rear attachment. In no way implying the 585 can't handle chores, but when you push the implements you will see the difference between machines and it's ability. In either case, the machines are wonderful, I'm just pointing out if you look down the road and think "implements" may be of value, then this might be a good time to do the homework in comparing machines.

If you look arcoss this board you will see a pattern; that is, many of us started with GT's and now have sub or small CUT's and there is a reason for that, because they simply have more ability.

Thanks all, with the news of a collection system for the 2305 possibly available in the spring, I will be going with that. Even if one is not available I will fit one like jdepetri2210 did to his 2210. Thanks to you guys I just saved almost $3K on a tractor that is cheaper and more capable. Also it sounds like it will hold its resale better too, but like I said before I dont plan on getting rid of it for a long time. I am the 3rd generation family owner of the IH Cub Cadet that I have. Thanks all!

Very nice... I'm sure you'll be very pleased with what the 2210/2305 has to offer. I replaced my 425 with a 2210 this fall and absolutely love it. Enjoy it...

My X585 works fine for mowing my 3 acres and plowing my 160 foot driveway. Fuel economy is great too with fuel injection. If you don't mind sucking in diesel fumes, get the X595. One thing to keep in mind, if you are looking at a 2K series, a 2210 does NOT come with cruise control. Keeping your foot steady on the hydro drive can get very tiresome with a long mowing job. If this is an issue, go for the 2305 with the optional cruise control.
