XG3025 Recall

   / XG3025 Recall #181
Big Blue those are really large stumps, thanks for the photos. I'm working on a river birch stump right now that is not that large but it's being very resistant to removal. I see the pressure washer being used later today so I can get a chainsaw to that tap root. I went back and read every post (Pages 1-18) concerning the XG3025 recall, it was a good re-education concerning the 1100 series backhoe. One thing I will do this morning before I start using the tractor is check those backhoe frame bolts that several members have noted, have a tendency to loosen up. Another thing I noticed yesterday evening is that the recall shim that is installed on the right side where the loader frame bolts to the side of the engine, is not a single thick shim. It appears that I have 3 or 4 thin shims stacked together and it looks like they are working out towards the top of the mount. I will try to take a photo a little later when I have some light.

I have attached a photo which shows the top of the shims above the loader bracket. The bottom bolt on the left was not completely tight. I don't recall being able to actually see the shim(s) right after they were installed, so I'm thinking that they are working out of the initial placement. I'm going to contact my dealer today and see what he has to say about the situation. I'll report back with any info from the dealer.

It appears that side of the tractor has some different hardware than mine.

I enclosed the LS Mtron Ltd plate on the subframe.

I slightly drilled out the rear bolt holes at the rear of the tractor, which were always coming loose.
Replaced the smaller bolts & added an old part from another welding job I was helping at the time so the wrench could get a better hold during tightening up.
These new over size bolts have never backed out since.

We do (& have done) a lot of back hoe duty w/ this rig .

If more pix of any part of of our LS tractor are needed by any member we'd be obliged to help out.

I got a call back from my dealer Friday concerning the shims that were installed during the front loader frame to engine recall. He initially said bring it down and we'll put the shims back in place. I asked if I could just loosen the 3 bolts and slide the shims back in place, he said sure, and also suggested to take the bolts completely out, one at a time and apply some blue lock tight to each. He also told me to check the bolts on the left side since there were shims installed there also. I did and they were all tight and no shims showing at the top. Big Blue thanks for the photos of the backhoe frame bolts that you had the issue of coming loose. When I checked mine (photo attached) I found them all tight. As you can see in the photo there is a boss (for lack of a better word) next to each bolt head that keeps it from moving. So far I've not had any problems with them coming loose. It appears that both our tractors are XG3025 models but there are some differences between years.

I would not be a bit surprised about any changes between years of manufacturing.

A sign of improvements, I hope.

As so far as the shims are concerned, go about this task as the dealer advised. Don't loosen everything at once.
Once back in service, I would suggest putting a wrench on the bolts & nuts if applies, after usage for a while.

These are small tractor, some of us are going to really go to work w/ them. I am perhaps at one end of this conversation.
I'm one of those owners who go looking for problems before I hear or feel something unusual.

Have noted some unusual rust on only one side of the underside of the blue sub frame, for example.
I just get at it early w/ the green anti rust ospho & wire brush it off & repeat the treatment & then spray paint w/ rust resistant blue paint.

After all these are tractors & they go where no other vehicles go & return ready for more of the same.

That bolt head lock appears to be an addition. As seen in your pix.
Much thanks for sharing. & about your dealer's advice.
