I'm not familiar with your tractor so I can't say which filter causes the most oil loss.

Putting a vacuum on the fill port will not suck oil out of the sump if the oil level is below the fill port.

Unless you have a filter cart, you cannot filter the oil well enough to be useful. Hydraulic systems require oil that is filtered down to the micron level.

When I changed my filters, I had a 2.5 gallon jug of hydraulic oil on hand just in case. I pre-filled each filter as much as I could with clean oil and then I was ready with a large drain pan. I quickly spun the old filter off and just dropped it in the large pan then then spun the new filter on. I lost a total of 2 quarts at most. Large pan prevented any mess as well.

OK couple? 's....which filter loses the oil, the upper one behind the kick panel or the other larger one?....and wouldn't you be better off just using a clean drain pan and filtering the oil to put back in??...seems like my shop vac would suck the oil out of the sump

The larger one is the one that loses the oil

When I did mine I changed the hydro oil too as a precaution. This isn't required for 50 hour servicing but I did it anyway. The old oil looked as clean as the new. If you're quick getting the new filter on, you wouldn't lose too much into the drain pan. I would top it off with new oil- you never know what crud might also fall into the drain pan.

Just did the 50-hour on my 2023H.

As per both the manual and my dealer, I did engine oil + filter, then both the HST and Hydraulic filters only. The bigger filter that you access from underneath the tractor is the one that will gush out some fluid. Have your new filter ready and if you pull off the old and screw in the new relatively quick you shouldnt lose much, I did end up adding roughly a quart or so to be safe.

Replacing the hyd fluid would have been ridiculous, it looked brand new coming out. Just do the engine oil + filter and both hyd. filters and you'll be good...along with the usual other stuff - grease all your zirk fittings, clean out the radiator filter, air filter if required etc.

When I stuck the shop vac cone in the fill hole all the way it did not touch the oil. I had the wife hold it tight and turned on the shop vac while I spun the old filter off and spun the new one on. The shop vac did not suck up any oil. No mess, worked way better than expected.
Changed my hydraulic filter today and used the shop vac and did get some oil in the hose. Only lost a minimal amount at the filter. Maybe my shop vac sucks better than most.

See post 4 above about minimizing hydraulic oil loss on filter change.

Just curious, what does the manual for your tractor say about the 50 hour service interval?

Shop vac method: I just did my 50 hour service and used the "shop vac method". Works great for changing the lower hydraulic (large) filter. Make a cone that will fit on the end of your shop vac hose. The cone needs to fit tightly into the transmission fill hole, but only go in less than an inch. Once you get the old filter started to loosen, have a helper hold the cone in the transmission dipstick hole and turn on the shop vac. Have the new filter ready, gasket lubed and 1/4 full of oil. While the shop vac is running, quickly spin off the old filter and spin the new one on. When the gasket makes contact on the new one, turn off the shop vac. I only lost about 3 ounces of oil, plus what was in the filters. A quart made it all up.

I cannot find any grease fittings on the XJ2025H other than on the loader. The manual says to grease the front axle carrier. Where to grease it?

I was also surprised when I couldn't find any other grease fittings, so I went to my dealer and had the mechanic go over a new one with me to make sure. He confirmed that there are no fittings on the front axel. The only grease fittings are on the loader. Most are obvious, but I had missed the ones for the SSQA release pins.

My XJ2025H does not have SSQA release pins. The loader on it is a LL2101 model. I don't have any need for front attachments besides a bucket.

The loader has 16 grease fittings. Those are the only fittings I can find on the entire tractor.

I didn't find it necessary to use the shop vac, I placed a small bucket under the tractor, spun off the old filter and quickly put the new filter back on with a loss of about 1 quart of oil. I put that quart of oil into a glass jar to inspect it. And I noticed the color of the hydro fluid is very dark for only 50ish hours of work... assuming the color of it was light gold when it went in. Dark hydraulic oil may not be completely bad but its signs of HEAT... oxidation and contamination.
Unlike a gear tractor, these HST are really putting the hydro fluid to work and it might not be a bad idea to change the fluid more often then the recommended 250-300 hours.

Also there are no zerks on the tractor itself... only the loader/backhoe
