I was filling a hole with dirt, went forward dumped a bucket hit the reverse pedal and the tractor did not move. Range was in low and in two wheel drive. Hyd psi appears to be OK, bucket moves up and down normal has enough psi to lift the front wheels off the ground. I checked did not see any linkages loose or anything else unusual.

I put the tractor in four wheel drive and was able to make it back to the driveway. In four wheel drive there is only power to the front wheels, none to the rear wheels in 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive.

Anyone have any ideas? I going to look at it again this evening. If I don't find something simple I overlooked, I plan on calling the Dealer and having them pick it up for repair. Pretty bummed out, I just hit 100 hours on it this morning and this is the first major issue I've had.

Sounds bad. Since the HST does drive the front wheels in low range (and probably High). Looks like something internal has broken and may require a trip to the dealer.

I'm pretty sure the problem is in the rear differential. Went out this evening to look at it and see if I could get it pulled into the shed. Tried pulling the tractor in with it in 4WD (only front two tires turning) it went forward, but when I hit the transition from the gravel driveway to the concrete pad of the shed it would not pull the rear wheels out of the gravel onto the pad.

I hit the rear differential lock to see what it would do and the right rear tire only engaged and began turning. This skewed the tractor to one side, but was enough to pull the rear wheels onto the pad and into the shed. When I took my foot off the differential pedal it would not return to the up position and I had to pull it back up by hand.

Once I got it parked I checked the differential pedal assembly and there is a lot of slop in the linkage and like I said early the spring will not return the pedal to the up position. When I do pull up the pedal I believe it is going up higher than it did before.

Calling the Dealer in the morning to have them pick it up.

Now that you mention using the diff lock and one rear wheel engaged, it sounds to me like the diff lock pedal got stuck down at some point. When that happens and you make turns both rear tires are trying to run at the same speed. This causes stress on the gears in the left and right halves of the diff. Since the right rear engaged I suspect the broken gear to be in the left half of the diff. This happened to a friend of mine with a JD tractor. Diff lock pedal got stuck, he didn't notice it, after several turns with both wheels locked he busted a gear in the right side axle housing of the diff. I helped him take it apart and saw the busted gear. Once parts came in gear was replaced and he was back in business.
If still under warranty mention to the dealer that there may be a problem with the diff lock not disengaging so that can be fixed at the same time.

Sounds to me like yet another feature that could benefit from an activation indicator light.

It could be, but I have not intentionally used the differential since I got it and have only used the 4WD a couple of times so far.

I agree a light or a loud beeper, same thing for the E-brake.

Spoke to the dealer this morning. He thought it could be that the axle is broke on the left side. Thier going to pick it up in the morning.

Working on cleaning it today.

The parking brake on larger modes does have a beeper that always reminds me if I try to move it when its on or when I get out of the seat without setting it. I guess that's not a feature on the XJ2025.
As far as a diff lock beeper or light I hardly use mine and if I did I always double check to see if it released. Its a habit I got into after the diff lock pedal stuck down on a previous tractor from lack of lube on the pivot points.
Hope yours gets fixed quickly.

Spoke with the Dealer yesterday and they found that the axle is broken. He wasn't sure yet how long it would take them to get the part as he had just put the online request in with LS for the replacement part. He said he was going to call LS and try to find out the lead time on the new axle. Hopefully they will have it in stock.

Any idea what caused it? Diff lock?
