I would tend to agree that it is rated under the 25 for emissions, and I've seen a higher rating on this- but I don't remember 30. In the Mitzi service manual they give a max RPM of 2730. One would assume that the governor can be fiddled with, but should it be? The Mitzi manual I have was something I stumbled on via the Googler. It does cover spring adjustments. Keep us in the loop.

I am seeing all kinds of different information out there on these s3l2 engines. There is a video on youtube with 30 hp @ 3000 and a couple pdf's from Mitsubishi with 28.17 hp @ 3000 and another doc from Mitsubishi with 27.6 @ 3000. Maybe they all have different internals but i would think it would be easier for Mitsubishi to make a one size fits all.


i wont hijack this thread any further so maybe i will start a new one to discuss these engines tomorrow.

When I was researching my purchase, I was led to believe that the Mitsu L3S2 in the XJ2025 was the identical engine from the XJ2030, but downrated from 27+ hp to 24.5 hp to avoid EPA requirements. In any event, these engines are used all over the world in all kinds of different applications.
