XUV Front End Rattle Noise

/ XUV Front End Rattle Noise #11
There may very well be a rattle in some units.

All you hear "I hear a rattle in the front end" Thats it.

Noone has elaborated any futher.

If they indeed have a problem wouldn't they follow up?

I am willing to assist in repairing this if it is an issue.

My friend owns the local JD dealership and I am thier almost dailey.
I have riden and driven almost every xuv that pass's through her dealership.

I have not seen one that had a rattle or problem.
Someone must have a video on youtube or some pics if there is a problem.

Maybe this is a URP. :D

(Unidentified Rattling Problem)

Maybe if they close there eyes and think hard enough an actual rattle will occur. Kind of like Dorothy clicking her heels together.

that's sad skip really sad . you just pretty much called them guys a liar !i see why you are trying to cover up the rattle these guys are hearing and the one i heard (friends own dealership). it's a fisrt year run for a product it's gonna have some problems .why not try and fix them instaed of hiding them.if you hide them they will never get fixed and people will stop buying them. i had the chance to upgrade to a xuv and for a lower finace rate and lower note but with the noise and complaints i'm gonna wait. for the guys with the rattles go out and run it hard til it falls apart and put it on utube that should make some really good videos and after you fill it call deere to come pick it up and fix it !!! john deere had a good reputation til now! but it's starting to go sour. stick with the hpx til the xuv gets it right!

I'm the one that took mine back to the dealer. I did not get mad or go on a rampage. I did not insist for my money back. I let them sell it for me. With only 8 hours on the ticker, I lost $1000. I had the brake rattle and bad brakes from the get-go. They fixed the brakes, but did not fix the rattle. I did have a bad noise in the front end. Off road or in the yard, I never heard it. I live on a dead end paved road. If driven on pavement at near full throttle, it made a bad noise. I can't remember a way to describe the noise, it was several months ago. I do remember laying on the road under the xuv trying to find the problem. I even went down the road with the hood open, trying to find something.
Now this is just me, The more I drove it, the more I was unhappy. 10k for this rattling machine kept looming in my mind. I got rid of it. Some, even my dealer accuse me of being picky. I could see, it was not going to be fixed, so I got rid of it. I'm still friends with the dealer, I miss jumping in a gator for a ride, but that is the way it is. I may have high expectation or maybe I'm picky, I do know I'm out a thousand dollars over the deal. JC

JC; I understand 100% . If your not happy you do what makes you that way.

I believe the rattle must be in the brakes. I've yet to hear it, but it could be my old ears.

Tommy; as far as covering anything up. That's absurd. If anything I wish I had the rattle problem.
I love tinkering with things and helping others fix the problems they have.

Funny thing is that you have whined more about the XUV than anyone that actually owns one.
I don't understand why you cry about something you don't even have.

I'm here to help others and learn about equipment I own.
I'm not here to whine about problems with equipment I don't own and may never own.

skip now your going to far i don't cry and whine i tell the facts and thats it.you have been trying to cover things up it looks like . all i do is ask about the xuv becuase i wanna know how it's doing out there . but it seems like every time i ask and people start posting in about the rattles and front end noises you pop up and say thier hearing things and then say something about me. i don't who what's up with that ?? if doing research in something before i buy it is bad then oh well. if looking at a structure and seeing faults in it and pointing them out is wrong then oh well. i guess you'll be getting a ,08 model xuv and then ragging out the ,07's about how really bad they was huh?it seems to be your track record. i'm finish with this discussion

I do own an XUV and I do have a "rattle" in the front end. "Rattle" is a mild word to describe the noise that is in the front end. The noise appears to be coming from either the front differential or half shafts. The noise is not subtle, it is loud and unmistakeable.

Rattle is probably not the proper word to describe the noise. The word rattle would suggest a nuisance rather than a problem. This noise falls into the latter category, a problem.

I'll have to take the unit back to the dealer but that won't be for a few weeks.

Your noise sounds exactly like mine. It is most obvious when I am on pavement and under load.

What brake problems did you have?

Has anyone with the rattle, contacted the John Deere Corp, or someone like the production engineer, customer relations folks ? I just curious, is J.D. even aware of the problem. Not trying to stick my nose into this, for I don't own one. But seems like someone should notify J.D. of the problem, I know they have regional managers that stand up and dig deep if there is problems with thier machinery. And these boys don't stop, they are on the customers side of things.

Not putting down dealers, but you have some that kinda close one eye on things. And it's not just J.D. , it's Kubota, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Poloris, and many more. And it just don't stop there, it's auto dealers that has the " eye" problems also.

Good Folks pay Good hard earned money for there equipment, and if there is a problem with the machine, the company should venture futher to help and correct the problem, being they replace, fix, or just give the folks a demo until they find out what the problem is with thiers >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
This problem sounds someones got thier head up thier asssss >>>
and it's not the customer, it's the dealers !!!!!

I did call Deere and register a complaint. I guess I did not get loud enough, because I never hear back from them. My dealer did a dtac on my brakes. They barely worked at first, dealer did something and they got alot better. Also had a rattle or jingle from the parking brake. Dealer made an attempt at fixing it and so did I, but it was still present when I sold it.
I read somewhere recently about the front diffs having problems, don't recall exactly since I don't have one anymore. JC

another site has posts describing a dealer telling an owner the noise can be one of the following:

#1 the carrier bearing under the floor board binding with the drive shaft,

#2 the gear backlash in the front diff set improperly.
